Role Description

We are seeking an Analyst to become an important member of a project team. The project will explore opportunities to reduce the risks associated with new and emerging technologies in submarine stealth and anti-submarine warfare (ASW), with a regional focus on the South China Sea. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to carry out project delivery as well as contribute to the development of new projects, including idea development and fundraising. 


In terms of technical knowledge and skills, we expect:

  • Proven expertise in naval analysis and maritime security, including familiarity with existing and emerging anti-submarine warfare technologies

  • Solid understanding of strategic regional dynamics as they pertain to the South China Sea

  • Interest in the impact of technologies on security

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project Manager to deliver project work to a high standard. 

  • Conduct research using a range of sources and analyse this information to develop well-argued, evidence-based conclusions

  • Organise international roundtables and other events with track 1 and 2 participants

  • Write high-quality, policy-relevant research reports, op-eds and briefings

  • Manage relationships with stakeholders and build BASIC’s network and reputation
