Battersea is one of the oldest, best-known animal welfare organisations in the world and this year sees us celebrating our 160th Anniversary. Since we were established in 1860, we have helped over 3 million dogs and cats and every year help around 7,000 animals directly through our existing three centres, and many thousands more through our work with and support of other UK and international rescue organisations. We have built an enviable reputation for being a leader in our field, a driver for change and a champion and voice for vulnerable animals.
We are looking for an exceptional Director of Finance and Corporate Services to join our Executive Director’s team at Battersea as they lead, facilitate and inspire our passionate, talented, hugely motivated and very engaged people across Battersea.
You will lead specialist teams across Finance, Compliance, Procurement, IT, Governance and Legacies, with oversight of the development/agreement of major contracts, taking a lead role in governance and acting as Company Secretary and will have strong experience of developing, leading and managing high performing “customer first” focussed teams.
You will be a qualified Accountant and will have a strong and successful track record of achievement in senior finance and corporate services leadership roles in an entrepreneurial and commercially focussed large charity, social enterprise or the private sector. You will have significant experience of working as part of an organisational senior leadership team, regularly leading projects and speaking to and inspiring staff audiences across an organisation at all levels. As an analytical, strategic, ‘big picture’ thinker, you will have strong experience of developing, delivering and evaluating cross-organisational and departmental strategies and leading associated organisational business planning processes. You will, of course, be committed to our mission, vision and values which underpin everything that we do.
We are committed to providing equality of opportunity and valuing diversity for all current and prospective staff, volunteers and Trustees. We aim to ensure that this commitment, reinforced by our values, is embedded in our day-to-day working practices and our work together. To help us to enhance the diversity of our Executive Directors Team, we would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates and candidates with disabilities, who are currently under-represented at Battersea.
