Job description

This post will manage the Thomas Pocklington Trust funded West Midlands Technology project. The project will map the existing provision of Assistive Technology across West Midlands Sight Loss organisations, and scope delivery of shared services across partner organisations; testing models for such partnership and evidencing clear benefits to all stakeholders. Alongside this, supporting the development of Assistive Technology projects and programmes at Beacon.
Key Responsibilities 
• Management of Thomas Pocklington Trust funding including developing project and providing reports and evaluation material
• Consultation with Sight Loss organisations and beneficiaries, across the West Midlands and beyond, on Assistive Technology provision and developments
• Explore mentoring opportunities for consortia members who have established Assistive Technology services within their charity

• Development of an Assistive Technology strategy and implementation framework focused on the development of closer collaboration, including shared AT service options, joint funding bids, shared training and collaborative use of staff and physical assets to enhance overall service delivery for West Midlands that could be replicated in other regions and localities

• Development of Assistive Technology projects and programmes associated with Beacon including, but not limited to Fab Lab, technology collaborations with Universities and commercial organisations, development of new software and hardware to support the Sight Loss community

• High levels of technological experience, ideally in an assistive context 
• Excellent people engagement skills 
• Experience of developing strategies and implementation plans 
• Ability to work across diverse organisations and build cooperation 
• Self-motivated
• Experience of the sight loss or disability sector and the role of technology within it 
• Experience of managing externally funded projects 
• Experience of working on partnership projects 
• Experience of research and development projects
