Beds SU, the student-led charity at the University of Bedfordshire, seeks an enthusiastic Representation Development Coordinator to help student representatives be the best they can be: champions of student rights and interests; impactful in creating change on behalf of their peers; and vocal in bringing student opinion and concerns to the attention of Beds SU, other students and decision-makers.
Beds SU is the official Students' Union of the University of Bedfordshire. We represent an incredibly diverse student body, with students from all backgrounds and from across the globe at multiple campuses across the UK, and we empower students to achieve their full potential. We further their interests to improve their lives as students, as well as providing lots of opportunities for students to meet new people, develop their skills, campaign for change and try something new.
The Representation Development Coordinator exists to bring-about effective representation, by students and for their peers, across the University and tailored to our diverse student members. In particular, they’ll work to maximise the voices of those less represented or more likely to experience exclusion in society; they’ll influence within our community to realise an inclusive university experience for all students.
Passionate about students making change in their courses, communities and lives, they will coach students, communicate with them and develop them. The ideal candidate will bring a range of interests, passions and abilities: they’ll be as adept at supporting students to be effective on committees as they are in delivering engaging training sessions; and they’ll be as capable of forming impactful relationships with students and colleagues as they as with university colleagues and elected Officers. Further, they’ll be a planner: organised, flexible and ambitious.
If you want to work in a fun organisation, committed to improving the lives of our members, then please apply.
To apply, please read the job description thoroughly and complete our online application via our website.
Applications should be submitted no later than 9am on Monday 23rd November 2020. Interviews are currently scheduled for Friday 4th December 2020, but we may speak to applicants beforehand, so please do not delay in applying.
Beds SU is committed to diversity and inclusion amongst its staff, reflecting the communities it serves. We welcome applications from those from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds, as they are under-represented at Beds SU. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
