Job description

Belong is a values-based organisation and provides everyone with the opportunity to make a positive impact, promoting active lifestyles, independence and wellbeing for older people.

Belong Chester, our latest state-of-the-art village due to open in Spring 2022, will provide a range of care, housing and support options for older people, plus a village centre with bistro, hair salon, gym and art studio. As a pioneering concept, the village will also have an intergenerational nursery, designed to offer shared learning experiences and opportunities for children, families and older people.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the start and help to develop the Belong Nursery into a blueprint for intergenerational practice. We’re looking for someone who will be an expert in the field of intergenerational practice, to lead, create and drive intergenerational strategy across the organisation, with responsibility for:

  • Creating an authentic intergenerational community across all ages, which supports good mental health and wellbeing and establishes healthier places to live.

  • Leading, developing and promoting intergenerational links with the wider community.

  • Promoting a culture of organisational learning in which best practices are shared and disseminated both externally and internally across Belong villages.

  • Effective and efficient intergenerational budget managements and coordinated grant applications.

  • Being a positive role model for excellent person-centred customer support and practice and an ambassador for intergenerational care working.

As well as being someone who is able to take the initiative, create momentum and engender enthusiasm and focus within the intergenerational work at Belong, there’s a few other qualities we’re looking for:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce papers and reports to academic standards and deliver presentations to professionals.

  • Ability to recognise the aims and objectives for intergenerational activities in adults with dementia specifically.

  • Strong people engagement skills, including coaching and public relations.

  • A customer care focus, with experience in delivering quality outcomes.

  • Experience of creating and leading on new initiatives.

You should be educated to graduate level and a Diploma/NVQ in Early Years is preferred, although not essential.

Our benefits package has been developed to help us attract, motivate and retain the best people, including everything you’d expect from an award winning employer, such as:

  • Competitive rates of pay & flexible working

    Pension & benefits schemes.

  • Staff discounts on village facilities.

  • Awards and a culture of celebrating our people.

  • Extensive training and development opportunities for our people.
