Job description

Community Engagement Manager

Beyond the Box, Consultants is a Community Interest Company dedicated to equity by design. We have developed a new approach to community engagement, derived from nearly two decades of working with diverse communities across the UK.

Our approach to community engagement uses cultural programming and creative placemaking to ensure meaningful and open dialogue with communities. Much of our work connects architectural design teams with local communities and authorities through regeneration projects.

We design and deliver bold new placemaking projects for communities both across London and the UK; co-designing and co-producing with local communities, to design more equitable places to live, work and play. We build upon the cultural and civic infrastructure within communities through knowledge transfer, local employment, project development, skills exchange and capacity building.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Beyond The Box team, as we have recently been successful on several projects working with communities across the Capital. We are currently working with several local authorities across London, collaborating with multiple stakeholders, third sector organisations and cultural institutions.

If you’re passionate about making the spaces we occupy more equitable, working with communities to co-design their neighbourhoods, whether it’s a housing estate, a school, community centre or cultural institution, this role is for you!

You will work closely with the Founder & CEO to design and deliver creative engagement strategies, collaborating with architectural design studios, local authorities and cultural institutions to deliver ground-breaking community engagement strategies that reach beyond the boundaries of the tick box.

You will empower local communities, using a creative co-design approach to community engagement, helping provide a welcoming platform and space for people to participate in important decision-making processes relating to their communities, homes, and neighbourhoods.

You work with built-environment professionals and those in decision-making positions to effectively consult with citizens on decisions that affect their lives, homes, and environments. You will play a vital role in ensuring this is upheld throughout the Beyond The Box portfolio.

We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, communities, and industries to apply, and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences, and abilities. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic backgrounds, and value the positive impact that difference has in our teams. We are committed to equality and diversity within our workforce and all opportunities provided by Beyond The Box.
