Job description

We’re looking to recruit a new Board member to contribute to the good governance and stewardship of Big Brother Watch. We’re looking for an experienced individual who shares our passion for our mission to protect privacy, defend civil liberties, and fight for a freer future in the UK.

What we’re looking for:

Essential

  • Experience either in financial management and fundraising, high impact political campaign strategies, policy and law on rights and liberties in the UK, or high level media and communications.

  • A proven track record of sound judgement and effective decision making

  • Commitment to Big Brother Watch’s mission

  • The ability to contribute the necessary time and effort to support our mission, principally by joining four quarterly meetings a year (ordinarily in London)

  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties of the organisation and its Directors

Desirable

  • Experience of operating within, or reporting to, a Board

  • Legal expertise

  • Experience in a role where you needed to show impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidence

  • Successful staff management experience
