Ø To work with the staff team to identify and develop support strategies to meet the needs of women and children seeking support through the Safety Unit.
- To develop policies and practice guidelines appropriate to the project in accordance with BSWA policies and procedures.
- To work in partnership with the project’s steering group.
- To develop operational protocols to define partnership arrangements and the referral process.
- To identify and build up links with referral agencies such as Police, Witness Care and other partners.
- To identify and make links with existing projects and community services and to develop joint services where appropriate.
- To keep abreast of issues regarding domestic violence on a national and local level, including legislative changes, with particular reference to those that may affect the work of the Safety Unit.
- To participate in multi agency work as agreed with your line manager.
- To explore the development of volunteering opportunities within the Project.
- To promote awareness of BSWA services and the impact of domestic violence on women and children.
- To develop and produce case files with action plans for each service user
- To keep women informed about developments in legal proceedings as they arise.
- To provide a duty service at Birmingham’s specialist domestic violence courts
- To support and advocate on behalf of women, where appropriate.
- To review each case on a regular basis.
- To work with women in recognising women and children’s individual needs and refer to specialist agencies where necessary
- To facilitate access for women to both statutory and community services
- To devise and implement appropriate methods of communication with women and children, in agreement with your line manager
- To work within BSWA’s administrative and financial systems
- To ensure that clear and accurate records are kept for all service users
- To ensure that Health and Safety records are kept up to date
- To produce monthly reports with statistical information for your line manager
Ø To monitor and evaluate the Court work project, via various methods including feedback from service users, evaluation and statistical information
- To ensure that all staff team members are aware of any matters that are relevant to the welfare and security of the services, staff, volunteers and service users by:
- Maintaining BSWA communication records
- Following safety procedures
- Attending team meetings
- Carrying out risk assessments in conjunction with your line manager.
- To attend in-house training.
- To attend support and supervision sessions with your line manager.
- To develop a professional working relationship with external agencies.
- To feedback relevant issues from external meetings/ training to the staff and management teams as appropriate.
- To be involved in the Annual Review process.
- To promote awareness of the impact of domestic violence on women and children and BSWA services
- To provide awareness raising sessions to external agencies linked with the Court project.
- To maintain the confidentiality of the women and children using the service.
- To maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the organisation.
- To ensure the efficient use of resources at all times.
- To work within BSWA policies and procedures and demonstrate a commitment to the values and ethos of BSWA.
- To work within BSWA’s framework for equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
- To adhere to Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, and Adult Safeguarding procedures throughout
- To participate in the development and annual appraisal of a personal individual development plan with the line manager.
- To undertake any other duties required by BSWA which may arise and are commensurate with the post.
