Job description

Family Support Worker                                                                                            

To deliver one to one and family support sessions to enable children and their mums living in the community to recover from their experiences of domestic abuse.

• To work in partnership with mothers/carers to identify children and young people’s support needs and to ascertain the level of support needed and the type of activities required to meet their needs.

• To develop and deliver one-to-one support programmes for children to enable them to explore their experiences of abuse and address issues arising from this.

• To design and deliver group sessions for children to build confidence and participation within a mutually supportive environment.

• To support mothers to enable them to understand and support their children emotionally and practically and to build confidence in their own parenting skills

We are particularly keen to recruit staff who can speak community languages, particularly Punjabi, French, Polish, Somali and Farsi.  All positions, unless otherwise stated, are full-time, 37 hours per week.

These posts are subject to a 6% pension contribution.  Women only need apply.  These posts are covered by a Genuine Occupational Requirement (Schedule 9; Equality Act 2010).
