Centre Manager – Fixed-Term Contract
Blue Cross is one of the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.
Our large and bustling Southampton Rehoming Centre has kennel and cattery facilities, an on-site veterinary suite, a puppy and kitten unit and isolation facilities. The centre has a large network of volunteers, including foster carers who look after dogs, cats and smaller pets.
We are now looking for a Centre Manager to join our team on a fixed-term contract until June 2021.

As the Centre Manager, you will be tasked with managing our large, busy centre in Southampton, managing the team and ensuring all rehoming and veterinary services are of the highest standards.
Joining a strong, experienced management team, you will oversee all aspects of the centre, providing strong leadership and support to all staff and volunteers and developing their skills and resilience levels.
To join us as the Centre Manager, you will need:
- Demonstrable experience of managing and leading a team in an animal welfare environment
- Experience of managing income and expenditure budgets
- Experience of delivering high standards of customer care
- Experience of managing Health and Safety including Risk Assessments and COSHH
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach
- Proven ability to develop and deliver operational strategy
- A full, valid driving licence
- At a minimum, GCSE level qualifications in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
Ideally, you will have a recognised management qualification, but this is not essential. Previous experience of working within a pet rehoming environment would be beneficial, as would experience of managing volunteers. Experience of managing operational change would also be beneficial.

This is a full-time role, working 42 hours per week on a rota basis, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
The closing date for this role is the 15th March 2020. Interviews are scheduled for the 24th March 2020, with shortlisted candidates being invited back to attend an assessment centre on the 1st April 2020.
