Job description
Philanthropy Manager
Home/Field Based (with travel to Burford and London)

About Us

Blue Cross is one of the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.

We are now looking for a Philanthropy Manager to join our team on a 12 month maternity cover contract.

The Benefits

- Salary of £32,943 - £41,700 per annum
- Pension scheme
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Company sick pay
- Life insurance
- Shopping discounts

If you have had previous success as a High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) fundraiser, this is a fantastic opportunity to use your expertise to support a charity that has been helping animals for over a century.

You will have the chance to play an important role in our future fundraising success and enabling our work to help thousands of animals.

This is an exciting time to be joining us as we embark on our new three year strategy across our rehoming, behavioural and veterinary services and you will be able to facilitate the success of each one of these elements of our organisation.

The Role

As a Philanthropy Manager, you will manage a portfolio of Major Donors, who give over £5,000 per annum, and our High Value (HV) Programme. This is a portfolio of donors giving between £500 - £4,999 per annum.

Working with the Philanthropy Team, you will manage relationships with Charitable Trusts and HNWIs and ensure the smooth running of the HV Programme to maximise donations and support.

Additionally, you will provide guidance to an Administrative Assistant who runs the HV programme on a day-to-day basis.

About You

To join us as a Philanthropy Manager, you will need:

- Proven experience as a successful HNWI relationship-based fundraiser
- Experience of creating and managing donor events, including budgeting
- A proven track record of personally asking for, and securing, four, five and six figure gifts
- Current knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR compliance
- The willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for donor events
- The willingness to travel to meet with donors and to London and/or Burford for team meetings
- At a minimum, a degree level qualification (or equivalent)

Ideally, you will have proven experience of raising funds for a variety of projects, but this is not essential. A full, valid driving licence would also be beneficial due to travel in the role.

Other organisations may call this role Fundraising Manager, Major Donor Manager, Income Manager, Donations Manager, Partnership Manager, Corporate Partnership Manager, Supporter Engagement Manager, or Senior Fundraising Executive.

The closing date for applications is the 1st March 2020, with interviews scheduled to take place on the 9th March 2020 at our offices in Burford.

Grade: 3.1
