The Booth Centre is an innovative, advice and activity-based day centre for people experiencing homelessness in Manchester. The Centre is recognised nationally as a beacon of best practice. We are recruiting for the post of Volunteer Co-ordinator, a role which requires a highly organised, proactive approach.
Volunteers have always been central to our delivery model because we believe that they bring something extra to the service. Our volunteer programme has been recognised for its excellence. In 2016 the Booth Centre was awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service and in 2018 the Centre won the Spirit of Manchester Award for the Best Volunteer Team in Manchester. Our new Volunteer Co-ordinator will build on this success and further improve our volunteer recruitment, organisation, support and retention.
We are looking to recruit someone with at least 2 years’ experience directly managing volunteers. The right person will be enthusiastic, reliable, energetic, flexible and focussed. This job combines working alongside volunteers in our busy day centre; organising the recruitment; training and rotas for our volunteer team, with helping to run activities and staffing the cafe. A willingness to work face to face with people in the Centre daily is essential. The successful applicant will have an outlook which aligns with our values.
We encourage applications from people with personal experience of homelessness, but this is not an essential requirement for the role. We welcome applications from the whole community.
