Are you looking for your next IT career move?    Needing a challenge beyond IT support tasks and looking to get more experience with projects?

We are looking for new talent to grow our small IT projects team. You’ll be experienced in supporting users in a Microsoft O365 and SharePoint environment and looking to enhance your hands-on skills with implementing automated solutions. We have bags of opportunities to grow our use of digital technologies, starting with some SharePoint projects but evolving across our different technology platforms. You’ll need to be able to discuss ideas and articulate solutions with our users,  developing their understanding of what’s possible. Working as part of the strategic Projects Team, you’ll support the delivery of IT and Digital projects that enable Brathay to meet its core objectives.

In this role you’ll complete a broad range of technical activities including providing development, support and guidance relating to agreed projects. It goes without saying you’ll need to work closely with our external IT support partners and Brathay colleagues to achieve successful outcomes too. To excel in this role, you’ll be:

  • Highly competent at all things IT, with experience using, supporting and implementing IT and digital solutions especially those within a current Windows and Microsoft 365 environment (including SharePoint)
  • Methodical, with good attention to detail, logical approach and can-do attitude.
  • Experienced at working on a wide variety of projects in line with organisational priorities.
  • Confident to engage with project team members, IT support partners and other Brathay staff to understand and articulate business requirements relating to these projects.

Role and Responsibilities

Key Tasks

Project Support

  • Undertake IT and technical support tasks as required to deliver the IT and digital projects agreed as organisational priorities.
  • Report to the Digital Officer on status of support and delivery activities, agreeing workload, timelines and priorities.
  • Engage with project team members, IT support partners and other Brathay staff to understand business requirements relating to these projects.
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in line with Brathay security standards, demonstrate best practice and that any costs are identified and approved.
  • Create project documentation, communication and support material as required. 
  • Work with the Digital Officer to identify and implement support processes to ensure projects are migrated successfully into operational management.

Digital Capability

  • Work closely with the Digital Officer to share experiences, expertise and to develop a portfolio of solutions for use both externally and internally to deliver our digital strategy.
  • As part of the Capability Incubator team contribute to team meetings, departmental development plans and activities to support team initiatives.

Miscellaneous

In addition to the duties listed here, the post holder is required to perform other duties, which are assigned from time to time. However, such other duties will be reasonable in relation to the individual’s skills, abilities and grade.

Skills and Experience

Essential Skills

  • Highly competent user of IT with experience using, supporting and implementing IT and digital solutions including those within a current Windows and Microsoft O365 environment (including SharePoint).
  • Methodical, with good attention to detail and logical approach.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and to produce quality documents.
  • Problem-solving skills with proven ability in analysing, articulating and resolving problems proactively.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work both on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Experience of working in customer-facing environment with the ability to engage with users and understand business requirements.
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines and to escalate issues pro-actively.

Desirable

  • Exposure to, and knowledge of, IT and digital infrastructure within an enterprise environment.
  • Experience of working across both the corporate and charity sector.
  • Understanding of delivering IT and digital projects in an SME.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE standard or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Further education qualifications or equivalent work experience that demonstrates technical IT knowledge and skills particularly within a Windows/Microsoft environment
  • Demonstrable competence and IT skills, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint, with ability to work within and champion cyber security

Desirable

  • Commitment and track record of consistent personal development
  • Understanding of GDPR regulation and experience of working within guidelines
