Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Breast Cancer Care’s unique Someone Like Me telephone service matches people to volunteers who have experience of the issues they’re facing – someone who’s had breast cancer, who understands, and has been trained to help.

We’re looking for a Services Worker to join our committed and supportive team for a fixed period of up to 12 months. You’ll ensure that every one of our clients gets the best possible match and that our volunteers feel supported and valued.

Your excellent communication skills, and confident and reassuring telephone manner will enable you to identify and understand our callers’ key concerns and ensure they get the most appropriate support from Breast Cancer Care.

You’ll play a key role in recruiting, training and supporting our network of 200 volunteers across the UK. You’ll be able to build a rapport with the volunteers, as well as maintain effective working relationships with other teams across the organisation and healthcare professionals in the NHS.

With demonstrable experience of juggling a busy workload and meeting deadlines, you’ll be a strong team-player with experience of supporting vulnerable or distressed people, and confident using Microsoft Office and database systems.

ABOUT US

Breast Cancer Care is the only specialist UK-wide charity dedicated to providing support for people affected by breast cancer. We’re excited to tell you that in April 2019, we’re merging with the UK’s leading breast cancer research charity.

From research to care, our new charity will have people affected by breast cancer at its heart – providing support for today and hope for the future. United, we’ll have the ability to carry out even more world-class research, provide even more life-changing support and campaign more effectively for better services and care.

Breast Cancer Care is an inclusive employer committed to developing a diverse workforce.
