Job description

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinical nurse specialist to join our team of nurses at Breast Cancer Now.

You will act as a resource for Breast Cancer Now, clients, healthcare professionals and the wider public on breast cancer and breast health.

As part of the service delivery and service development, you will provide information and support to clients (approximately three days of their week) regarding breast awareness, those with breast cancer or benign breast conditions and anyone affected by these, including family and friends. This is through our Helpline and Ask Our Nurse (AON) written enquiry service. You will also work with our Services team in the planning of services that support people with primary breast cancer, for example our Moving Forward courses and the Someone Like Me team.

You will be involved in coordinating the day to day running of the Helpline and Ask Our Nurse Service with the support from the Helpline and Ask Our Nurses Service Coordinator and Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist.

You will also be taking, writing and reviewing patient information, be part of the healthcare professional training program and will act as one of our press spokespeople for our team.

You must be prepared to travel throughout the UK and to occasionally work varying hours. The Helpline service is run throughout the week, and on Saturday mornings (the latter of which is optional). Team training usually occurs twice a year on Saturdays. There will be a combination of home and office-based working from our central London office.

This role will be offered on 35 hours per week. However, we will consider offering the role on 28 hours per week if requested.

About you

You will be a dynamic nurse with a solid grounding in breast care nursing and the ability to learn many new and exciting skills. You will have good communication skills, with the ability to deal with sensitive issues and adhering to confidentiality. A great team player with a flexible approach, you will have the ability to occasionally work or travel outside of office hours during evenings or weekends. If this is you, we would like to hear from you.
