The role

This is a really exciting time to join our team at Breast Cancer Now. Having recently launched our new ‘Turning the Tide’ strategy, we’re more focused and determined than ever to make an impact for people affected by breast cancer.

We are looking for a Senior Press & PR Officer to join our ambitious Press, PR & Celebrity team to help us cement our place as the ‘go to’ organisation for breast cancer. Focusing on the Services and Influencing area of our charitable work, the right person for the role will be curious, passionate and creative about how we build the profile of our life-changing services, how we campaign and influence key decision makers, to best ensure the needs of people affected by breast cancer are met, and how we get our important health messages out to healthcare professionals and the public. You’ll spot, create and tell powerful stories and will have creative and innovative ideas about how to secure cut-through in the media to tell them.

About you

You’ll be great at building trusted and influential relationships with colleagues from across the charity, with journalists, external contacts across the services and influencing arena, and with advocates and ambassadors of Breast Cancer Now. You’ll have an understanding and passion for policy and campaigns, public health and support services work across the UK and will use your experience and expertise to work collaboratively, effectively and at pace to keep our services and influencing work on the external news agenda.

You’ll be a strong and impactful writer for a range of audiences and across different channels and will champion our bold, patient-focused and expert voice. You’ll have experience of and will thrive in a fast-paced press office or news environment, as well as knowledge and interest in media across different platforms.

The successful candidate will be excited to join our ambitious, focused and supportive wider Fundraising, Communications and Engagement Directorate, with a remit to reach and engage more people in our work than ever before, and to develop our fundraising to continue to be a sustainable organisation for the future.

And a vehicle for change, acting now to make sure anyone affected by breast cancer gets the best possible treatment and care.

We believe that we can change the future of breast cancer and make sure that, by 2050, everyone diagnosed with the disease lives – and is supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Please note that whilst Breast Cancer Now is following Government guidelines regarding working from home, this role is based in London and the expectation now is the post holder will be based at Ibex House a minimum of two days per week.
