Job description

Do you have experience in Admin Support?

This is an opportunity to be a part of something amazing. Become a part of a newly set up non for-profit organisation where you will get to help shape, develop and grow its future.

We are a brand new not for profit organisation called “Bright Chapters”. Bright Chapters is an organization that is passionate about raising and promoting awareness on mental health and mental health related issues within the Black, Asian and Ethnic minority community in the UK. At Bright Chapters we are dedicated and committed to helping individuals and other organizations to access the prerequisite information, tools and support that encourage open dialogue on mental health challenges. It is the goal of Bright Chapters to improve services and service delivery that diminish the societal stigma surrounding mental health.

In the BAME communities, mental health is often perceived as a socially unacceptable topic for discussion, mental health problems are rarely spoken about and is seen in a negative light. This tends to discourage people within the community from talking about their mental health and often poses as a barrier to engage with mental health services.

At Bright Chapters, we believe that many people can be freer if only the barriers that encourage reticence due to mental health challenges can be broken.

We provide mental health education and mental health first aid training to help people spot signs and symptoms for them to seek appropriate help.

We facilitate support groups via zoom where people come and share their experiences to help encourage others. We also have question and answer sessions where people come forward with their burning questions and receive clarity with the help of mental health professionals on our platform.

We provide one to one culturally competent mental health support for members of the BAME community.

We continue to keep our platforms on social media open to spread positivity and provide mental health support during this pandemic (@brightchapters1).

We are recruitng two Volunteers for the position of Admin Support who can lead on all  administrative aspects at Bright Chapters; including; including making contact with prospective partners, activities and events, managing correspondence such as emails and telephone calls, taking notes at meetings and typing up a final copy, writing reports and filing, as well as other general administrative duties, supporting the Founder, Senior Leadership Team and also the general team in all admin support needs.

You will be one of the faces of the charity, and vital for building and promoting our organisational culture, so we will need someone with excellent people skills, great time management skill, someone who is approachable, well organised and able to manage multiple tasks.

Why not volunteer with us as we encourage positive attitude towards mental health and mental health challenges in the BAME community.

Bright Chapters - its is okay to speak up.
