About the role
As Senior Health and Safety Adviser you'll work closely with our shops and stores and encourage incident/accident and near miss reporting to ensure compliance and raise awareness to maintain a safe working environment for all our staff.
We're fully committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its staff, volunteers, contractors and customers and in this role you'll contribute to the BHFs internal wellbeing programme "Live Well, Work Well", helping to maintain the health and wellbeing of our staff and volunteers, while also supporting the Health and Safety Manager (Retail) in delivering risk reduction projects and developing our overall H&S Culture.
With a qualification in general Health and Safety law and practice to at least NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent, you'll have a minimum Grad IOSH status and will be working towards or a commitment to achieve CMIOSH in the near future.
You'll have a comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and effective best practice as it applies within the Retail environment as well as experience working in a health and safety discipline, ideally in Retail and geographically dispersed organisation
To be successful in this role you'll have the following skills and experience:
* Experience of working with staff at all levels with practice of developing and implementing safety systems, policies, guidelines and processes;
* Experience of investigating incidents, accidents and other safety matters to take learning and give advice on preventative measures to minimise/eliminate hazards
* Excellent initiative skills, able to take a project brief and execute
* A passion for pragmatic and proportionate health and safety
* Excellent influencing and leadership skills
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively to people of all different technical abilities.
