About the role 

Our organisational commitment to keeping our people safe and secure extends to ensuring the safety of our fundraisers and supporters when attending or participating in events runs by or on-behalf of the BHF, all of whom make a major contribution to helping fund lifesaving research. 
 
As our Senior Health & Safety Adviser you'll play a key role in guiding and supporting our fundraising teams to understand and know how to fulfil their responsibilities of providing events that are safe for all. Be that participants, visitors, staff and volunteers and the wider communities in which they take place. 
 
You'll like a challenge and be pragmatic in your safety risk thinking . You'll have the ability to think dynamically in this often fast paced environment. 

About you

With a qualification in general Health and Safety law and practice to at least NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent you’ll also have a minimum GradIOSH status, working towards or a commitment to achieve CMIOSH in the near future.

Excellent communication and organisational skills are needed to ensure you develop and grow excellent working relationships with a team that covers the whole of the UK. 

Working closely with the fundraising team you’ll develop, implement and monitor robust but proportionate event safety policies, procedures, guidance and event planning templates for internal use.  

You’ll have experience of working in a health and safety discipline, ideally in a large complex and geographically dispersed organisation. A self-starter you'll be able to take a project brief and execute in a timely manner. You'll have a passion for pragmatic and proportionate health and safety and its successful delivery at BHF events.
 
This is a home-based position, but will involve substantial travel across the UK to various fundraising events. Candidates must have a full UK driving licence.
