Job description

A great part-time opportunity to manage and deliver education meetings for healthcare professionals, including our two-day annual conference. You will join a small team passionate about making a difference to women at a key stage in their life.

The British Menopause Society (BMS) is a medical society, affiliated to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, (RCOG) and also a registered charity.

The BMS educates, informs and guides healthcare professionals specialising in all aspects of post reproductive health. This is achieved through an annual programme of lectures, conferences, meetings, exhibitions and our interactive website.

Women’s Health Concern (WHC) the patient arm of the BMS provides an independent confidential service to advise, reassure and educate women of all ages about their health, wellbeing and lifestyle concerns.


BMS annual two-day conference, WHC annual symposium and regional education programme

  • Liaise with the chief executive and/or education programme manager to confirm lecture topics and speakers for each meeting

  • Recce venues (as required)

  • Work with the BMS and WHC webmaster to ensure all meetings are advertised on the BMS and/or WHC websites, setting up online registration for delegates

  • Promote meetings by email, via the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and other relevant websites

  • Speaker invitation and management

  • All meeting administration

  • Oversee our weekly volunteer, who assists you with meetings’ administration

  • Attend and facilitate meetings.Meetings are held in a variety of locations including London, Leeds, Stirling and Kenilworth and necessitate approximately 10 overnight stays per year.

Maternity Leave Cover - Administration

  • General administration duties including dealing with public enquiries, answering basic enquiries about the work of the BMS and WHC and  facilitating media and press enquiries;


The successful candidate will be:

  • Experienced in coordinating meetings or events

  • Highly motivated and a self-starter

In addition:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are required

  • The BMS is a membership organisation and therefore excellent communication skills – written and oral - are essential.

  • A ‘can do’ attitude is of key importance – everyone in our small office has to roll up their sleeves and support the rest of the team.
