Service Support Worker - Dementia
Contract type: Fixed term until 31st of March 2020
Hours per week: 17.5
Salary: GBP 17,499 pro rata (GBP 9.61 per hour)
According to World Health Organisation there are estimated 47 million people living with dementia worldwide. People affected by this disease and their families quite often feel overwhelmed, lost and require support from health, social and financial systems.
So, if you love helping people in need and looking for a rewarding role this position might be for you! We have a fantastic opportunity for to join our Independent Living team as a Support Worker in Merthyr on a part-time basis.
You will be responsible for supporting the Service co-ordinator with delivery in all areas of the service in both Merthyr Tydfil & Rhondda Cynon Taff areas, including direct support to enable people aged 50+ with the diagnosis of Dementia to:
- Increase their confidence to remain living independently in their own home
- Improve their emotional and mental wellbeing and resilience
- Have greater engagement and participation, and increase their contribution to the community

The Independent Living (IL) & Crisis Response (CR) service (IL/CR) are dedicated to making lives of vulnerable people a little bit better. We're a small team dotted all over the country that shares the same goal - to help those that need it most.

Also, you should be the following:
Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
Full driving licence holder and access to own vehicle
Have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care
