The British Red Cross is now hiring for a Head of Volunteering (Fundraising & Supporter Engagement), in this exciting new position you will be the lead for the ongoing work across the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement directorate where you will use data and insight to ensure our fundamental principle of Voluntary Service remains relevant in this fast paced and ever-changing world we live in.
What you will be doing
As Head of Volunteering you will act as the British Red Cross senior volunteering specialist for Fundraising and Supporter Engagement, responsible for the end to end volunteer journey and improving the quality of the volunteer experience across the Directorate.
It is imperative you work collaboratively to form strong partnerships with senior colleagues to embed consistently high-quality volunteering practices that meet the needs of volunteers, are safe and legally compliant and ensure the directorate has the right volunteers, in the right places, who are effectively supported to meet the needs of our supporters, communities and people in crisis.
What we are looking for
Educated to degree level (or equivalent by experience) with experience of operating at a senior level within a volunteering function or organisation engaging significant numbers of volunteers, you should have:
* A demonstrable knowledge and passion for innovation and volunteering
* A strong business acumen including business case development and financial modelling
* Strong social media & story telling skills, specifically in a volunteering context
* The ability to translate complex issues to different audience groups and find insightful solutions to complicated problems
* Proven experience of delivering complex volunteering programmes
* Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and develop clear and compelling strategies
* Proven ability to manage in a dynamic environment
* Demonstrable experience of identifying and responding to external trends; ideally in a volunteering or equivalent context or of co-ordinating surge capacity

The roles sits within the Volunteer Mobilisation function which currently sits across our People & Learning and Fundraising and Supporter Engagement directorates.
You'll be joining a team that is going through change. We have ambitious plan to develop, and we want to put our supporters at the heart of all we do. The changes over the past few years to the fundraising environment mean we need to be agile and are revising our approach to how we fundraise.
Alongside this, the volunteering landscape is evolving, and we need to offer a more dynamic and relevant experience. We are now entering an exciting time as we develop and launch a new fundraising and supporter engagement strategy that will provide a transformative and innovative approach to how we raise funds and engage with our supporter base.
