Service Support Worker
Location: Ayr (requires travel within the Ayrshire area)
Contract type: Casual/Relief
£8.24 per hour

"If you love helping people in need, looking for a rewarding role or to kick start your career in Health and Social Care sector this position might be for you! We are looking for individuals who love helping people in need to join our fantastic Independent Living (IL) team in Ayr on a casual basis.

You will be supporting people home from hospital either from the Emergency Department or following a stay in hospital. You and a colleague will transport service users in an accessible Red Cross vehicle and then help them resettle back into their home. During the resettlement you will be provide some basic practical and emotional support to ensure that the service user is safe and to help reduce failed discharges.

You will be alert to safeguarding and welfare concerns and will be assessing service users' needs and capturing key information that will help us provide appropriate follow on support.

You will be receiving referrals directly from clinical staff at the hospital and will be working with them to prioritise the referrals. Through the service you will play a key role in helping reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and delayed discharges.

You may also be asked to undertake welfare checks and provide basic practical and emotional support to service users that we are providing follow on support to, to help enable them to live as independently as possible in their own home and prevent hospital re-admissions."

Also, you should be the following:


  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)

  • IT literate

  • Full driving licence

  • Have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care
