£37,378 - £47,466 FTE (£22,426 - £28,479 pro rata)
London SW7 - with home working currently.
Requests for remote/flexible working will be considered.

The British Science Association's mission is to transform the diversity and inclusivity of science. We want more people, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in science, to feel that science is relevant to their lives.  A key element of achieving this is supporting and working with community groups and organisations across the UK.

The Head of Community Engagement is responsible for growing and diversifying our science engagement programmes for community groups - locally-led groups and organisations who provide opportunities for people who live in a particular neighbourhood or share a particular characteristic or experience.

You will build on our work done to date, creating a compelling vision for our community engagement work.  You will oversee the BSA’s community engagement programmes including British Science Week Community Grants, our Community Leaders and Community Buddies programmes. You will grow the Community Engagement Network and develop and seek funding for new programmes.

The Head of Community Engagement will have excellent experience in developing and delivering community programmes for under-served or disengaged audiences and experience or understanding of good practice in public engagement with science. You will have a track record of successful fundraising for community development or public engagement with science or a related aim.

You will also have experience of managing high performing teams, overseeing budgets and fundraising.  Experience of grant management is desirable.

The BSA is an equal opportunities employer and a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion.  We aim to recruit the person most suited to the job and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and from different sectors, and from people who've gained their skills outside formal employment.  We would particularly welcome applications from people and communities who are currently under-represented in our staff team, which includes people from minority ethnic groups, disabled people and men.

Closing date – midnight on Sunday 28th March 2021
