Job description


Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid is seeking to recruit a Senior Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA) to lead the BCWA IDSVA team in providing a high-quality pro-active service to victims of domestic & sexual violence and abuse in Bromley.

You will address safety of the client and their children, assessing the client’s needs and risk level. You will discuss options with clients and deliver a range of interventions as well as develop safety plans, and support clients through civil or criminal courts. You will work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic & sexual abuse. You will provide support to victims referred through the police, through co-location at Bromley Police station on some days.

You will have previous experience working in the domestic/sexual abuse field and will have a strong understanding of the needs and issues specific to survivors of domestic abuse.

SafeLives/CAADA training certificate in domestic and sexual abuse is required.

You should have line management experience as you will be supervising the work of a small team of IDSVAs. The person we are looking for is a confident and resilient person with the ability to stay calm under pressure and motivate and guide her team.

Job Title: Senior Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advisor
Hours: Full time – 35h per week
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract/Temporary (currently funded until end of March 2023)
Salary: £28,000 - £29,500 (depending on experience) Plus 5% pension
Location: London Borough of Bromley
