Being a young person in 2019 can be hard. The challenges they face are complex and fast moving and the services that exist to support them are being drastically cut. STI rates are rising and complex safeguarding concerns are multiplying, stretching an underfunded health system to its limit. The online world presents a myriad of unreliable information and potentially harmful content.
And while there has been some reduction in the stigma, there is still a long way to go before the general public are sympathetic to young people’s rights to good sexual health provision and relationship support.
Brook is an ambitious and dynamic charity that is passionate about improving the lives of young people. Last year we supported nearly 800,000 under 25s to manage their sexual health and wellbeing and we know our work is needed more than ever.
About the role
Brook is embarking on a programme of digital transformation that will revolutionise how we provide services, advice and education to young people, and we want to act fast. We’re looking for an experienced digital professional who shares our passion for health, believes in young people, and who is excited by the prospect of helping us achieve our goals.
With full ownership of all our digital real estate, there are 3 key products in your portfolio:
The digital front door
Our service vision is to provide young people with a digital front door that will work alongside our face-to-face clinical services and help us work better and smarter. You will play a pivotal role in shaping these services and will be joining at the early stages of our journey.
We are embarking on a redevelopment of our website, the first phase of which will launch in September 2019. You will have sole responsibility for the website and its evolution, including content creation, editing and commissioning – as well as making recommendations for how it can work smarter for Brook and give young people a voice as well as vital information and advice.
We are growing our digital education portfolio to help support teachers deliver excellent relationship and sex education ahead of RSE becoming mandatory in 2020. You will oversee the commissioning of new courses – including development of content, work with academics, experts and our education team to ensure the content is evidence based and effective.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Significant experience of effectively managing a portfolio of digital products and services
- Demonstrable experience generating and analysing qualitative and quantitative data enabling decision making based on evidence, analytics and insight
- Excellent project management skills and the confidence to train and support a large network of people to embrace, promote and use the tools we develop
- A clear and engaging communication style, with the ability to influence and build relationships across the organisation
You'll need to hit the ground running and be happy and comfortable wearing lots of different hats and moving between various live projects. You'll be happy to get your hands dirty but will be passionate about shaping our digital future.
