We are now looking to recruit to the role of Grants Officer to work closely with the Senior Management Team, be responsible for leading the research and application process to fund our key project priorities and lead the impact monitoring and evaluation of projects. The role will include sourcing new funding streams and developing positive relationships with key stakeholders. The Grants Officer will lead and deliver Burnley FC in the Community’s grant management process and impact evaluation including developing tools, resources, sharing expertise and collecting/analysing relevant data.
The successful applicant will write high-quality applications to generate income from trusts, foundations and statutory grants to help achieve the charities funding needs so that Burnley FC in the Community can continue to do the amazing work they do for the local community.
Reporting to Head of Governance and Operations the Grants Officer will be expected to:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong grant making process that meets BFCitC funding priorities.
- Proactively seek funding opportunities to support existing and new projects in line with the Charity’s aims and objectives.
- Coordinate and develop grant funding applications in line with the charity’s community strategic plan.
- Identify and submit well written grant applications and tenders to a wide range of funding partners, including low level pots to large scale and highly detailed bids, ensuring that all funding eligibility is met.
- In liaison with the senior management team you will research, conceptualise and develop proposals to support both existing projects and new develop new programme opportunities.
- Manage and monitor multiple on-going applications, ensuring all deadlines are met. You will be required to record and update funding data records using an online monitoring system, keeping the senior management team updated on progress.
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date library of information related to funding applications to ensure a smooth and efficient process when submitting funding proposals

- Ensure accurate records are created and maintained detailing the conditions set out as per successful grants / funding bids. Ensure such conditions are strictly adhered to, liaising with relevant staff members where appropriate
- Develop comprehensive quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees to keep them updates on the progress of all prospective grants, reporting cycles and end dates.
- To ensure that any potential/ upcoming fundraising gaps are identified in good time, ensuring the continuation of projects.
- Evaluate project outcomes and effectiveness and share findings to inform future funding bids and strategic targets.
- Develop insight gathering and evaluation, and promote a culture of evidence-based practice, using insights to shape and influence programmes and inform decision making.
- Analyse data collected using both qualitative and quantitative methods, presenting findings in an accessible and engaging way.
- Create and circulate infographics that showcase outcomes and achievements across all delivery strands
- Create new relationships with key stakeholders, partners and funding bodies and maintain strong relationships with existing partners and key stakeholders
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to this role
An ideal candidate will have;
- Educated to degree level or 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Maths and English GCSE at a grade C or above.
- Experience of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Experience of working in an office environment.
- Excellent IT skills across MS Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to be discrete with experience of working with confidential information and documentation.
- Good experience within a grant fundraising role, with a demonstratable track record of securing grants in excess of 50k.
- Demonstratable experience of writing compelling applications/cases of support.
- Experience of building relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent ICT skills to include Microsoft Word/PowerPoint and Excel.
- Knowledge of a range of Fundraising database systems.
- Good knowledge of GDPR law and compliance.
- Experience of database and CRM management systems.
- A positive attitude towards professional development and their own learning.
