Foundation is looking for a Development Director to lead fundraising and stakeholder management. The Development Director will play a vital role in helping the Chineke! Foundation fulfil its potential.

The Development Director will be responsible for fundraising from all sources, including trusts and foundations, public funders, corporate sponsors and individuals. Reporting to the Managing Director and working as a part of our small, dynamic team of management staff, Chineke!’s Development Director will play a vital role in securing funding for projects including concerts and tours by the Chineke! Orchestra and Chineke! Junior Orchestra, and our Learning & Participation programme. You will work closely with colleagues to gain an in-depth understanding of all projects, including budgets, which will enable you to make applications to carefully targeted potential sources.

About you and the role

The purpose of this role is to head up development of key partnerships and income streams that will ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and able to deliver our impact at scale. You will be responsible for the assessment of, and managing relationships with, all major new partners. You will be accountable for delivering on an ambitious income generation strategy, and for monitoring and effectively reporting our impact. You will ensure that our impact and the importance of our work is effectively communicated to potential new partners, working closely with the Head of Communications and supported by the Marketing Manager. You will work alongside the Chief Executive and the Head of Finance to develop annual plans and budgets and work closely with the Director of Transformation and School Engagement Manager to ensure projects are secured, fully funded and financially sustainable.

Key responsibilities:

● Developing a comprehensive income generation and marketing strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

● Manage and maintain existing significant partnerships with key funders (trusts, corporates and major donors), identifying new opportunities to deepen and extend relationships where desirable

● Manage, support and mentor the Development team, leading on strategy and planning for the department to ensure that income generation targets for fundraising are achieved

● Working alongside the Chief Executive and Directors, identify new income opportunities from corporate partnerships and support development of commercial opportunities

● Lead on the development of our impact measurement strategy, strengthening our monitoring, evaluation and impact systems to ensure that we are effectively collecting data that demonstrates our impact

● Responsible for delivering internal and external reporting (including the annual report) that articulates our impact clearly and definitively

● Develop an effective marketing strategy to articulate our impact and the benefits of our programmes to potential new partners

● Working with the Director of Transformations to maintain a healthy sales pipeline of new school/ MAT partners, helping to identify and develop relationships

● Manage, motivate and develop your team, setting goals and evaluating performance, coaching and motivating staff and supporting professional development and staff wellbeing

● Play a key role in preparing for and ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Strategy & Impact trustee sub-committee

Recent accomplishments of the Medical Sciences Division include its research into the COVID-19 pandemic, most notably through the delivery of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine, which is estimated to have saved over 6 million lives.

About the role:

This fundraiser will work closely with the Heads of Departments and academics in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. The post will focus primarily on funding for research, academic posts, scholarships and infrastructure related to Neuroscience which includes Mental Health and neurological disease (e.g. Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Stroke and Epilepsy). The fundraiser will work on special projects including the possible major capital redevelopment of the Warneford site. While an interest in medical research and neuroscience is essential, you do not need to be a sciences graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.

You are an experienced development professional with a strong track record of securing major gifts, a confident approach and the ability to think creatively. You will lead on major gift fundraising (£100k-£1m+) working with a range of donors (corporates, trusts and individuals).

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the implementation of the Unloc London Strategy

• Working in partnership with the Operations Manager to ensure the delivery of the Unloc London strategy. This includes;

  • Building new relationships with local schools and colleges. 

  • Facilitating a free to access enterprise event for local schools in the borough of Westminster. 

  • Delivery of workshops and presentations, attendance at events to to promote Unloc’s programmes and initiatives to schools, colleges and community groups.

Working in partnership and building new stakeholder relationships

• Liaise and act as a primary point of contact for current key stakeholders to promote Unloc’s work. This will include Local Authorities, Education Trusts, Businesses and Community Interest Groups. 

• Implement engagement strategies to build new relationships with key stakeholders through needs assessments and stakeholder surveys to gather insights into the preferences, challenges and priorities.

• Represent Unloc in external meetings, conferences and networking opportunities. 

Organise, plan and facilitate entrepreneurial skills and career pathway projects and programmes

• Organise, plan and facilitate bespoke enterprise and career pathways events (with support from the Operations Manager) for individual businesses, grant giving bodies, schools & colleges. This generally involves designing agendas, booking speakers, managing event resources, leading individual sessions, briefing event support staff, liaising with key points of contact and managing attendance from multiple schools, colleges and partners.

Managing staff

• To line-manage multiple other members of staff in line with Unloc’s People Management Approach. This includes:

  • Providing wrap around support to individual team members when they require it.

  • Promoting a culture of excellence in programme management and facilitation.

  • Ensuring that facilitators you manage operate in line with Unloc’s policies, procedures and practices whilst instilling Unloc’s core team values.

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of each staff member’s portfolio and current progress on programmes and providing a source of accountability..

  • Holding regular check-in meetings with team members.

About the Role

MSI is in the process of rolling out a Global Data Warehouse (GDW) using the Microsoft Modern Data Warehouse (MDW) suite of applications, principally Azure Synapse, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Power Apps and Power BI. The aim is to produce a single repository of global data, and to improve & modernise MSI’s reporting, ensuring it is fit for both Global Head Office and the Country Programmes’ strategies and operating models.
