About the Team

This interim role reports to the Director of Communications, Policy and Campaigns (CPC), alongside other Assistant Directors.

The CPC team drives Shelter's campaigns for social housing and renters' rights, supporting our services and income generation efforts.

You'll manage heads of important content and engagement teams, driving strategic direction and collaboration across functions.

About the Role

As Assistant Director Communications and Content, you'll lead Shelter's communication efforts, ensuring impact, reach and a coherent organisational voice.

You'll oversee media teams, drive cross-channel campaigns, and develop ambitious communication strategies. With your experience in matrix management and project/change management, you'll guide teams to achieve our strategic goals amidst organisational change.

The Role:

The Partner Engagement Lead is responsible for key account management, and specifically developing and supporting relationships with programme sponsors and partners within the WorldGBC network.

The Partner Engagement Lead will work closely alongside the programme/projects team subject leads, taking responsibility for day to day management of activities that relate to sponsors or stakeholders, including partner relationships, external collaborations and fundraising.

Working cross-functionally within a matrix-style organisation, the Lead will work collaboratively on the engagement pillar of WorldGBC's fundraising team alongside the Partnerships Manager and the Strategic Partnerships Lead. This team coordinates closely with all WorldGBC departments, in particular where sponsors are involved with initial focus on the programme/project partners.

Well-organised and a great communicator, this individual will ensure that key relationships are managed effectively across the organisation, and be detail oriented in their reporting and accounting of opportunities. The Lead should also be willing to represent the organisation in relevant external opportunities relating to the programmes as need arises - including fundraising meetings, external working groups, events or conferences.

The Partner Engagement Lead will report to the Director of Programmes Strategy.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Account Management: Be primary point of contact for new and existing programmatic sponsors and partners, overseeing engagement with the network and accounting with detailed reporting to ensure up-to-date partnership records. Work alongside the programmatic team leads to deliver all agreed benefits to partners, ensuring a uniform balance of benefits and opportunities across sponsors engaging in all areas of the organisation.

2. Fundraising and Budget Management: Work alongside the programme leads to secure funding and manage relevant programme/project budgets (with guidance from the Director of Programmes Strategy), including supporting grant application and reporting responsibilities where necessary.

3. Stakeholder Engagement (members and partners): Engage with stakeholders to ensure that our programmes/projects align with their goals and needs, working with the Director of Programmes Strategy and wider programme team to explore best practice engagement tactics throughout 2024.

4. Subject Matter Expertise: Stay current with the latest trends in sustainable buildings and WorldGBC programme outputs, ensuring the Lead can communicate knowledgeably about WorldGBC strategy and work areas as required.

5. Communications: Support communication for WorldGBC on topics related to sustainable buildings in relevant programmatic areas, representing the team at internal or external events or industry working groups and collaborating with Marketing & Communications on accurate messaging for publications and campaigns.

6. Supporting Programmes team: Be a committed member of the WorldGBC team and offer support, training and expertise to wider members of the team. Participate and engage in wider WorldGBC campaigns, events and deliverables, such as COP, World Green Building Week and Leadership Summit.

We currently have an opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Manager within our National Environment & Climate Action Team within the Strategy & Impact Directorate. The S&I directorate analyses current and emerging policy and sets the Trust’s strategy and standards for regional delivery across all the Trust’s activities. The Environment and Climate action team is responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy and policy on all environment and climate related sustainability issues, including environmental compliance as a minimum and achieving biodiversity net gain.

Reporting to the Head of Environment and Climate action, the Environmental Management and Compliance manager role will be responsible for the Trust’s Environmental Management System and its associated policies, commitments, and standards, linked to the Trusts evolving sustainability and organisational strategies. The role will require establishing good relationships with other teams in the Trust to drive sound environmental practice from our operations and 3rd party activities.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for, and day-to-day management of the Trust’s environmental management system
• Deliver a programme of activities and updates to environmental standards, guidance and tools, ensuring that these are delivered on time and within budget. This forms part of a system refresh that will be delivered this financial year.
• Work with internal technical experts and the Trust’s legal team to ensure that the standards meet regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with Trust operational and delivery teams to ensure that standards are deliverable and align with existing and emerging business processes.
• Manage external technical input where requires (e.g. from consultants)
• Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents, near misses and ensure the production and dissemination of key learnings
• Preparation of board and Environmental Advisory Group (EAG) papers and acts as secretariat of EAG meetings
• Producing case studies and other examples of best practice for internal and external audiences
• Developing and delivering environmental training
• Displaying the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
• Ensuring that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promoting inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

• IEMA Practitioner qualification or equivalent
• Experience of administering environmental management systems, including a good understanding of ISO14000 family of environmental standards.
• Authoring company standards and guidance
• Broad understanding of key environmental themes and associated legislation (Air Quality, Biodiversity, Water Quality, Waste, Pollution Prevention and Control, Invasive Species)
• Experience of investigating environmental incidents and near misses
• Working knowledge of GIS and using spatial data to support environmental strategies
• Project/ programme management skills
• Developing reporting systems and managing environmental data to report progress
• Developing project business cards

The role will be home-based, with the expectation to attend main regional hubs either at Milton Keynes, Birmingham, or Little Venice (Paddington), for collaborative working. This is a national role, requiring collaboration with teams in all six of the Trust’s regions. There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will be able travel to attend meetings or fieldwork throughout the regional waterway network.

• Deliver Proof of concepts: Design, develop and deliver future projects that support the creation of new paid placements in different regional hubs across the country. Building on lessons from our first pilot we need to continue to refine what YES does, how it works, all with the goal of building a body of compelling evidence that will shape how we scale our vision.
• Own the 'Product': We need a clear, accessible, and compelling proposition for how we do what we do and why it works. You’ll be responsible for keeping hold of that core product, and making sure it doesn’t get diluted as the programme begins to scale.
• Secure funding: Engage with funders, big and small, to bring in the financial support required to deliver our proofs of concept. We’ll need to experiment with a more sustainable long-term funding model, so you’ll need to be able to explore new approaches to funding placements, working with a range of different funders and through different funding approaches.
• Build a coalition: We don’t want to do this alone. You’ll need to engage nature, net zero and circular economy organisations as well as delivery partners, creating a collaborative network of organisations who can work together to deliver our programmes and create the foundations on which we can scale in the future.

• An excellent trainer, with experience of delivering training to businesses.

Salary: £62,522.13 per annum

The Role

This role is home-based, regular travel and some unsocial hours will be necessary.  As a Deputy Service Director, you will:

• Support the Services Director to manage services across England and Wales
• Represent the charity externally, promoting a positive image of the organisation
• Identify and promote opportunities to grow and develop the services in order to improve reach and impact
• Monitor, develop and advance the approach to excellence, ensuring teams work to the highest quality standards
• Take the lead in developing the skills and expertise of the Operations Managers and further advancing excellent standard of casework
• Lead on income generation in allocated areas
• Promote advocacy for service users, ensuring that they are involved in the development of services and their needs are heard and understood

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• An excellent understanding of the impact of crime and the experience of the criminal justice system on victims and witnesses
• A proven track record of successfully delivering services with significant contract values
• Exceptional leadership skills, ensuring individuals and teams feel nurtured and supported in order to achieve high levels of performance, commitment and collaboration
• Demonstrable experience operating effectively within a complex organisation at both operational and strategic level
• Previous experience of developing and maintaining successful partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

This is where you can make a difference to us.  As our Commercial Business Development Manager, you’ll be in a newly created hands-on role at the forefront of nurturing and closing new business opportunities.  You’ll be developing strategic partnerships, increasing revenue streams and contributing to our growth plans as a member of the Relate Senior Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

• First and foremost, this is a sales role. So, we’ll need you to demonstrate a track-record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets.
• You’ll be able to demonstrate an ability to work autonomously without intensive supervision.
• You’ll be able to demonstrate the ability to define and action a go-to-market plan.
• Naturally, we expect first-class demonstrable sales-skills including the ability to:

1. Identify and evaluate new business opportunities including new markets, customers, partnerships, products, and services.
2. Develop a pipeline of qualified prospects.
3. Negotiate and close deals with a seven-figure value.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring their needs are met andexceeded.
5. Provide detailed reports on business development activities, including market analysis, sales forecasts, and revenue projections

• Collaborate with the National Partnerships Director, Service Delivery Director, National Contracts Manager, Digital Services Manager, and other key colleagues to ensure the smooth implementation of new contracts.
• Deputise for the National Partnerships Director at Executive Leadership meetings
• Represent Relate at a range of events to promote the brand and the service offer.
• Contribute to annual budget and strategic planning cycles.
• Stay abreast of industry changes and competitive landscape to adjust strategies accordingly.

Education and Training

• Experience and formal training in a recognised Sales Methodology e.g. MEDDPICC, SPIN, Sandler
• BA Hons (desirable)

Demonstrable Experience and Knowledge

• Substantial proven experience in business development, b2b sales, or a similar role, in the service and/or not for profit sector
• Track record of securing seven-figure contracts.
• Strong understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
• Proven experience of cultivating and sustaining strong partner relationships in a range of settings.
• Understanding of market drivers in the EAP/staff benefits sector.
• Strong track record of achieving or exceeding income targets.

Terms of Appointment

• Permanent position
• Full time, 35 hours per week (some evening/weekend work may be required)
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and 3 days over Christmas period 
• c£55,000 oer annum salary
