Kingston Voluntary Action (KVA) is a long-established and well-respected infrastructure support organisation for the voluntary and community sector in Kingston. We have grown in the last few years in the number and variety of projects as well as the number of team members. KVA is in its second year of delivering the Infrastructure Support Contract awarded by the Royal Borough of Kingston.
Together with our VCSE Sector Development Manager, internal team and external partners, you will ensure that KVA offers an ambitious and innovative capacity building programme for Kingston community and voluntary sector organisations.
We are looking for an experienced capacity building officer with a wide skillset and a track record of achieving outcomes for local communities by undertaking hands-on work with VCSE organisations of all sizes and structures, including, but not limited to support with fundraising, ability to better demonstrate their impact, develop policies and procedures and set up and run a charity or community organisation.
You will have a problem-solving approach, with patience, good listening skills, but also ability to be a critical friend when needed.

The RSCM is on a mission to enable the flourishing of church music, and in particular to get children singing.
Working across the whole charity, you will work to sell existing products, courses and events, as well as membership subscriptions. The post holder will be expected to work to actively drive sales of RSCM products such as ‘Hymnpact!’ (a singing resource aimed at encouraging singing in primary schools), sales of events such as singing courses, and membership subscriptions; and in some instances voluntary giving. Some of the work will be in support of RSCM Enterprises, RSCM’s wholly owned trading subsidiary.
The sales plan will be delivered with some assistance of external contractors (e.g. social media), and with input from individuals across the organisation.
The post holder is responsible for selling to individuals, corporate customers (such as school federations) and organisations (e.g. choral societies) including through appropriate organisational networks. The holder will play an active part in suggesting, agreeing and delivering agreed KPIs and sales targets, monitoring and adjusting activities as necessary to improve results. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the long-term financial viability of the charity and whilst we have a comprehensive product offer, we welcome innovation. The post holder will be expected to make suggestions and recommendations for NPD (new product development) and changes to our strategy that could make the products more attractive to parallel markets.

About the role

Your successful bidding will directly feed into our ambitious growth targets and enable us to extend our reach to more individuals struggling with mental health challenges.
Sitting within our parent company’s Business Development Team, you will receive support for Twining tenders that you are actively working on and will also provide support to Hestia’s tenders, depending on demand.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
This role would suit someone with a proven track record in collaborative new business development from concept and research to delivery; ideally in an environment working with local authorities, NHS, DWP, health bodies, and/or grant institutions. We are also looking for an exceptional communicator with strong verbal and written influencing skills across various levels of seniority. Our ideal candidate will have a strong commercial acumen, including sales and negotiation expertise, and a good understanding of the financial principles applicable in the charity sector. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and embody the values of Twining in all aspects of their work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids and funding applications, including finalising technical questions and method statements.
· Manage the administrative components of the tendering process.
· Conduct research to identify income opportunities related to the employment and mental health offer.
· Build and maintain networks with local health, social care and employment agencies.
· Stay informed about procurement practices and commissioning trends in London and nationally.
· Contribute to the shaping of Twining’s development strategy by identifying growth opportunities.
· Participate in events to position Twining as a thought leader in relevant sectors.
· Assist with the mobilisation of successful tenders, ensuring a smooth transition from award to contract initiation.
· Evaluate bids to improve future submissions and seek feedback on both successful and unsuccessful proposals.
· Keep updated on sector developments in employability.
· Attend meetings with Commissioners to foster relationships.
· Aid in the re-development of existing services to secure additional funding and/or efficiencies.
· Engage in tender presentations and clarification interviews as needed.
· Form partnerships and consortia to explore alternative service delivery methods.
· Support the retention of services by contributing to operational improvement initiatives.
· Coordinate with operations staff to optimise staffing structures and service delivery models for the best service user outcomes.
· Identify personal training and development needs and arrange visits to key services.
· Act as an ambassador for Twining, representing the organisation's interests with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
· Develop and implement the company’s development strategy including (but not limited to):
- Public Funding (including both ACW and ACE)

Position in the Company
The Development Manager will;
· Be line managed by the Executive Director and report to her
· Produce written updates for the Board of Trustees and report verbally to them as required
· Work in partnership with the company’s Communications and Marketing Manager to engage donors, prospects and key stakeholders with the company, moving from purely transactional relationships to ones based on emotional connection and commitment
· Work with the company’s Executive Team to cultivate new supporters and strategic delivery partners with which to develop and grow the company’s work both within the UK and Internationally
· Work with the company’s Community Programme Manager to cultivate new opportunities for support
· Manage the Development Officer

PURPOSE OF JOB

To deliver a range of stalking training courses to Trust clients, work with internal experts to ensure course content is kept up to date, provide consultancy project support, and collaborate with a range of statutory and non-statutory clients and stakeholders.
