We are recruiting a Project Coordinator with the Learning and Skills team at the Institute of Physics on a fixed term basis for 18 months. This is a full-time position, although a part time request will be considered, with scope for flexible working across 35 hours a week.
This new position will support the Learning and Skills team in its mission to build a thriving, diverse physics teaching community and will see you working across multiple projects to help ensure that all people, no matter their background or where they live, have access to world-class physics education and training.

What will I be doing?
- Project coordination – working with the Implementation Manager, you will provide support for a number of projects across the department.
- Stakeholder management for the IOP School Affiliation scheme & Community of Physics Teaching.
- Event management - this will involve supporting online and in-person events, managing event bookings, liaising with event venues and event contributors, managing budgets, liaising with colleagues for promotion and evaluating impact.
Projects you work on may include:
- Administration of our physics teaching community. responsibilities will include the maintaining of electronic mailing lists, the drafting of e-newsletters and the organisation of in-person community events.
- Coordinating the Physics Teacher Educator programme - a programme designed to develop those who work to support teachers of physics. Responsibilities include managing relationships with participants, providing support as they progress through the programme.
- Management of the IOP Affiliation Scheme: a paid-for service to support teachers which includes the provision of the IOP publication “Classroom Physics”. Responsibilities include managing subscriptions, invoicing schools, and maintaining mailing lists.
Who will I work with?
- You will be line managed by the Implementation Manager and work with them on projects across the Department.
- You will support the Strategic Lead for Retention and Professional Community and Strategic Lead for Pedagogy and Professional Practice in the delivery of their projects.
- In the delivery of external events you will support and work with our Professional Support Coaches who are based across England and Wales

MAIN DUTIES
1.Providing operational support to Business Development Manager, including taking telephone enquiries from clients and arranging sales consultations. Supporting the Business Development Manager with sales consultations during holidays and at peak periods.
2.Being first point of contact for new business client enquiries, responding to messages from new clients and scheduling sales consultations with prospective clients. This includes acting on new referrals for paid service consultations within 24 hours, identifying and advising on the best service to meet the client’s needs from initial assessment of their situation, and promoting confidence in Beacon and our ability to meet the client’s needs.
3.Drafting and sending detailed estimates to prospective clients following initial consultations and following up to close the sale.
4.Establishing a rapport with prospective clients, utilising Beacon’s reputation within the industry to generate business and maintaining excellent communication throughout the sales journey.
5.Managing the case allocation process including responsibility for ensuring cases are allocated in a timely way according to case deadlines.
6.Generating and sending out contracts and associated paperwork, and processing completed contracts for clients engaging in a paid service. Liaising with caseworkers for a smooth handover of the new case, ensuring that expectations are met and key deadlines understood by the caseworker.
7.Maintaining good communication with colleagues in the Information and Advice team to facilitate the smooth transfer of prospective clients from an advice call to a paid service consultation.
8.To keep relevant and sufficiently detailed case records following each client contact, ensuring that all client information is kept up to date in line with Beacon’s systems and procedures, including data protection policies.
9.Keeping sales data software up to date and producing monthly sales reports for Managing Director.
10.Responsible for the effective operation of client administrative procedures including operating and maintaining database and filing systems.
11.Arranging for the safe and secure transportation of sensitive client files and medical records for caseworkers and clients.
12.Attending line management, supervision and team meetings as appropriate.
13.Provide organisational, administrative and secretarial support to the sales and casework teams as required.

Background Information
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is the name given to a package of healthcare that some people need to receive due to disability, accident or illness. People who are eligible for CHC have the full cost of their care and accommodation funded by the NHS. This relieves families of sometimes astronomical care bills.
The criteria for determining who is eligible for CHC are highly complex and can be very difficult to understand. The assessment process is lengthy and detailed. Likewise, the appeal process can be very daunting and perplexing.
Beacon’s roots are in a service provided by Age UK Oxfordshire, to provide free advice and support to families trying to navigate the CHC system. Beacon is a social enterprise that spun out of this service ten years ago and has supported over 100,000 families across England.

We’re looking for a fundraising assistant role to support the Investments and Partnerships team and in particular the donor development and special events coordinators. This role will help SIA ensure that donations are processed accurately and quickly as well as support the events teams to look after fundraisers.
In close collaboration with the donor development coordinator, you will help to grow, diversify, and sustain fundraising income as part of the wider business development team, feeding into our 2030 strategy.
Fundraising Assistant
Location: Milton Keynes - We offer hybrid working with the expectation of three days per week in the office.
Salary: £23,100 per annum
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract (maternity cover)
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
About the role
SIA’s vision is a fulfilled life for everyone affected by spinal cord injury with the aim to double the number of members accessing our network of services – this role connects individuals and groups with our work, developing long-lasting relationships so that supporters are financially, actively, and emotionally engaged with SIA.
In this role you will play a vital administrative role supporting the Investments and Partnerships team and in particular the donor development and special events coordinators. The Investments and Partnerships Team delivers the charity’s fundraising activities, securing voluntary income to fund services for spinal cord injured people. This role will help SIA ensure that donations are processed accurately and quickly as well as support the events teams to look after fundraisers. The fundraising assistant will also support administrative tasks associated with delivering special events. This is an entry level role into fundraising and is a great opportunity to learn how various departments operate within a charity fundraising team.
