Doorstep Library is a community-focused literacy charity dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support. We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to head up our fundraising and marketing teams.
With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train home and online reading volunteers to go into disadvantaged areas of London to help introduce young children (aged 0-11 years) to the pleasure and benefits of reading.
Our unique home-based service, whether in person or online, enables us to find the most appropriate books for every child we visit and build a relationship with the whole family. Our goal is to help children develop the self-confidence and essential skills they need to access all the opportunities that will come their way in life.
We also empower parents/carers to create and maintain a supportive environment by signposting them to local services and community support. Our projects not only improve literacy but also increase family wellbeing and bonding. Our tailored service enables us to help prepare children for school and broaden their opportunities in later life.

JOB SUMMARY

JOB PURPOSE
· Strategic responsibility for fundraising, including partnership development and maintaining the charity’s strong relationships with our wide range of funding partners;
· Strategic responsibility for marketing, to increase the charity’s profile and increase engagement;
· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To manage the charity’s fundraising operations including coordinating prospect research and prioritisation, managing workflows, and ensuring effective stewardship of donors, corporate supporters and trust and foundations grants;
· To oversee the charity’s marketing operations, including digital and printed content creation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to report to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and Head of Delivery and Engagement.
You will have substantial, proven experience of working in fundraising and of developing and sustaining partnerships, ideally in the third sector, and of how to build financial sustainability. You will be a highly organised people-person and will be responsible for line managing two Fundraising and Marketing Officers.
You will bring excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire others about our work. With outstanding interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to forge new relationships and you will thrive on enhancing our current partnerships and identifying and creating new ones.
Finally, you will be truly passionate about the work that we do to support children and families in disadvantaged areas of London and be driven to share our work with as many people as possible.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy
· To work closely with the CEO and trustee board to lead on the development, planning and delivery the Doorstep Library’s fundraising strategy, with further development of a longer-term strategy;
· To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity;
· To take a lead on application bids, including managing, monitoring and evaluating all funding applications;
· To work closely with the SMT and actively contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity;
Grow, develop and sustain our partnerships and income streams
· To lead, deliver and grow our existing relationships with all of our funding partners; foundations, corporates, independent schools and individual donors to raise circa £850K pa;
· To identify new potential partners, working closely with the CEO and board of trustees to develop these partnerships;
· To establish a corporate supporters programme and individual giving campaigns, plus develop effective stewardship systems;
· To have responsibility for retaining and engaging the charity’s supporters, this includes providing formal reports and updates on the work of the charity;
· Working with the Fundraising and Marketing Officers to effectively communicate the impact of our work to internal and external stakeholders;
Communications
· Work with the Marketing Officer to implement improvements to our digital presence, including website optimization, social media strategy, and online advertising campaigns;
· Research and analyse sector news/ developments;
· Oversee the creation of the annual report and impact report;
· Create and maintain a stock of case studies/ success stories and photos;
· Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns;
Line Management
· To have direct line management responsibility for the Fundraising and Marketing Officers;
· To create an environment where the team feels fully supported and enabled to grow and develop under your management;
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
1. A proven track record of delivery results in fundraising and/or partnership management
2. Knowledge of successful fundraising from a variety of sources, including at least two of corporates, major donors, individual giving, local authorities and trusts & foundations
3. Proven experience in securing five figure gifts, managing the donor cycle from initial stages through to stewardship
4. The ability to maintain current income streams and identify opportunities for growth
5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and in an engaging manner in person and in writing to a variety of audiences
6. Strong relationship building skills – experience of working with a wide range of people, from large corporate teams to potential individual donors
7. Highly organised – ability to manage a number of projects and tasks at the same time
8. Ability to generate and implement new ideas and see them through to completion
9. A positive team player, working with, supporting and encouraging colleagues
10. Ability to work flexibly, adapting to rapidly changing demands and opportunities while retaining a clear strategic focus
11. Excellent organisation and administration skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and use office systems

About Hope for the Young
Hope for the Young is on a mission to remove the obstacles to young refugees and asylum-seeker’s education and well-being through a bespoke package of one-to-one mentoring, advocacy, and financial support.
Founded in 2008, Hope for the Young has grown from a small grant-making charity led by its Trustees to an organisation that, last year, worked closely alongside 135 young people, with 11 staff members, and 150 dedicated volunteer mentors.
Our Mentoring Programme operates London-wide and matches young refugees and asylum-seekers aged 16-25 with trained volunteer mentors who provide tailored one-to-one support and advice according to their needs.
Our Grants and Advocacy Programme promotes equal access to education for young refugees and asylum-seekers across the UK whose immigration status makes them ineligible for student finance, and those who are facing extreme financial hardship. As we embark on our next 3-year strategy, we are seeking an exceptional and proactive leader who can oversee all aspects of our Fundraising and Communications at Hope for the Young, bring fresh ideas, and drive the organisation forward.
About the Role
As our Fundraising and Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission and expanding our impact so that more young refugees can access the education and one-to-one support they need to rebuild their lives in the UK. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic fundraising campaigns, cultivating relationships with donors and supporters, writing funding applications, and effectively communicating our message to a range of audiences.

Community Fundraising Manager
The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser, dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.
Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.
Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

Overview of Role
This is an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in our fantastic, skilled Fundraising Team in an exciting period of ambitious growth. The role offers many opportunities to develop trusts and foundations fundraising skills and experience.
CAT’s Fundraising Team is responsible for raising vital funds for CAT’s core and project work from individuals, trusts and foundations, statutory sources, groups and organisations. This is essential for CAT to fulfil its charitable mission – to inform, inspire and enable people to take action for a sustainable future. The post-holder will play an essential role within this team.
To successfully raise funds from trusts and foundations, the postholder will work closely with and be supported by other members of the team including the Fundraising Team Manager, the Fundraising Manager for Major Donors & Legacies and the Head of Strategic Funding and Programmes. They may also provide support to these team members if required to raise funds from statutory, corporate, group or individual sources, including by helping to organise events and webinars, and may be required to provide supporter care and administration support for another Fundraising Officer.
To engage and deliver successful strategies for fundraising from trusts and foundations, the postholder will research relevant sources of income; consolidate this funding and project information and provide support for the setting and monitoring of project budgets; keep the project pipeline updated; research, engage and develop relationships with donor prospects and ensure stewardship; submit a rolling programme of applications; and monitor and evaluate feedback. They will also ensure that donors are thanked and receive appropriate recognition, and ensure compliance with CAT’s policies and procedures, whilst maintaining records and managing any reporting requirements.
Main Responsibilities
Trust and foundations:
- To work with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Strategic Funding and Programmes to support the development and implementation of strategies and plans for fundraising from trusts and foundations, including through an audit of trusts and foundations.
- To provide support to lead staff in project development including budget setting, monitoring and reporting
- To research trusts and foundations funding prospects.
- To maintain and further develop a project pipeline and rolling programme of bids.
- To engage with, develop and maintain strong relationships with trusts and foundations and statutory funding bodies.
- To research, complete and submit compelling funding applications, liaising closely with relevant staff within CAT and, where relevant, partner organisations.
- Ensure appropriate stewardship of supporters.
- Ensure funders are thanked and their support is acknowledged appropriately.
- Ensure that the process for reporting on grants is monitored and that teams understand their roles and responsibilities once funding is secured.
- To ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation of funding bids.
- Ensure data and records are kept up to date and that staff follow good practice.
- To assist with staff training, development and motivation, ensuring that all staff receive adequate induction, health and safety and customer care training.
- To provide support for the management of fundraising budgets, including invoice and income coding and monitoring income and expenditure.
- To contribute to regular Key Performance Indicator reports.
- To maintain accurate and complete information on the trusts fundraising databases.
Other duties
- To provide support to team members if required to raise funds from statutory, corporate, group or individual sources, including by helping to organise events and webinars.
- To provide supporter care and administration support for the Fundraising Officer.

As Fundraising & Partnerships Manager you will be responsible for all fundraising from trusts, foundations, statutory sources, as well as major donors, and supporting UK legacy strategy in Scotland.
We will look to you to increase income support for our work from Scottish sources. You’ll develop and deliver our fundraising strategy across multiple sources, including coordinating the development and management of key relationships and opportunities with major donors, charitable trusts, and partnerships. Collaborating with colleagues, you’ll plan and implement funding-related public, corporate and internal communications strategies. In addition to maintaining relationships with existing partners, you will proactively research and pursue new funding opportunities. You will also network in the fundraising, environmental and wider third sectors to maximise opportunities for growing support. It will also be important to keep up to date on good practice, legal and ethical compliance, sector debates and monitor effectiveness.
To help build back nature, we’re looking for someone with a background in charity fundraising, including partnership management. You will have a track record of writing successful funding applications and meeting financial targets. Good at building relationships, you will be used to developing and delivering complex projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders. You will also possess experience of leading on the development and delivery of fundraising-related communications, including compelling proposal and impact report writing. Naturally, you will have a strong understanding of the fundraising landscape in Scotland. ABOUT THE ROLE
Working closely with the Executive Director of Feedback Global, as well as with other members of the senior team and the Executive Director of Feedback EU, the Fundraising Manager will develop and implement a strategy to raise funds for Feedback Global and Feedback EU, with a target of £3m yearly income across both organisations by the end of 2025.
The overwhelming majority of the funds raised will be from trusts and foundations, and so the role will primarily consist of researching potential trusts and working with the different teams to research and write compelling concept notes and applications. Develop a pipeline of charitable trusts and foundations that could support a range of low and high-value projects, and activities across the full breadth of our work including core costs.

This role will also be responsible for supporting wider efforts at the Good Faith Partnership in relation to fundraising, including:

Supporting colleagues on other GFP projects in fundraising efforts, and scoping funding opportunities for potential new GFP projects.

Supporting the Good Faith Foundation (the linked charity of the Partnership) in relation to relevant fundraising efforts

Essential experience

Successful experience of Trust and Foundation fundraising
-
Experience of donor management and building/overseeing fundraising systems
Desirable experience

Experience of successful income generation from areas outside of Trusts and Foundations

Experience of fundraising from both faith-based and secular funders
Abilities and Understanding

Understanding of funder needs, criteria and the ability to apply this understanding when preparing quality applications and funding reports.

Ability to communicate across a range of mediums, to a range of audiences.

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with trustees as well as trust and foundation staff.

Ability to apply the use of thorough research in prospect and funder communications.

Understanding the value of accurate record keeping and the ability to create high functioning, accessible systems for the whole team’s use.

Highly organised with accurate record keeping and ability to prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met and opportunities are maximised

A strong team player who is flexible, positive and responds with strong influencing and negotiation skills and a commitment to the organisation and team working.

● Members of the Good Faith team are predominantly based near London, Reading and Bristol. Applicants must be able to travel to London once a month for a Tuesday full team meeting, and to London, Reading or Bristol once a month for coworking.
● This role is fully remote, with flexible working arrangements.
