CAFOD requires a DevOps Administrator to look after some of our most important IT systems including our Supporter CRM (built on Salesforce) and our Project and Programme Management System (built on ASP . NET and MS SQL Server). You will be responsible for monitoring the ‘moving parts’ that make up the systems as well as the integrations with external agencies and systems. You will detect and (where possible) diagnose faults with all these. You will monitor the overall health of these systems and the platforms which underpin them. You will also coordinate the resolution of issues with development automation and integration as well as support the release management processes in respect of these systems.
The DevOps Administrator role resides in the Technology and Business Analysis Team. This team provides CAFOD with a number of important systems used by back office staff including the CRM system (concerned with our Supporters) and our Project and Programme Management system (concerned with our International work). This team also supports the integration of these systems with CAFOD’s website (in conjunction with CAFOD’s Digital team) as well other external systems, services and agencies.
CAFOD’s CRM is built on the Salesforce CRM platform and uses several third-party supplied managed applications installed onto our Salesforce org as well as external applications, systems and services which integrate with it. The role of the DevOps Administrator is to monitor the ‘moving parts’ which make up this system (and, where required, the other systems provided by the Technology and Business Analysis Team) as well as diagnose faults where parts of these systems have stopped working or exhibit unusual behaviour.
The role is required to monitor that backups of data and configurations are working as expected. The role is also required to monitor underlying cloud and on-premise infrastructure (including adherence to licence conditions such as API and storage limits) and ensure that security and other updates are applied as required. The role must also keep track of our user and applications etc. licensing as well perform more general health checks (e.g. storage use over time).
The role is also required to coordinate the resolution of issues with development automation and integration as well as support the Release Management Process.
