Job Profile

The postholder is responsible for the development of prayer and reflection resources for the Catholic community. These resources can be both digital and offline and will enable the Catholic community to participate in CAFOD’s mission through prayer.

The role sits within the Theology Programme. This is a cross-organisational programme based in the Fundraising and Participation Group.

The ideal candidate will have a proven understanding and awareness of the Catholic Church and parish life. With a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), creative ideas, and an interest in digital and audio-visual forms of communication, they will be able to create engaging spiritual content for a Catholic audience of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

1.Develop prayer and reflection resources for the Catholic community on CAFOD’s priority themes and issues

  • Research and develop the resources necessary to communicate with members of the Catholic community of all ages, enabling them to pray and reflect on CAFOD’s priority themes and issues
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate key messages for the adult Catholic community, particularly those aged 35-45
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with CAFOD staff and volunteers about programme resources and liaise with CAFOD colleagues to ensure their effective promotion
  1. Maintain the Pray section of the CAFOD website and the Theology Programme’s online presence.
  • Ensure that the programme offers effective, creative, engaging online resources for the Catholic community, enabling them to pray and reflect on CAFOD’s priority themes and issues 
  1. Contribute to the monitoring of Theology Programme resources to measure and improve their effectiveness.
  2. Contribute to wider organisational thinking on external communications, offering a clear understanding of the adult Catholic community and parish life.

Job-specific competencies

  1. Demonstrable ability to create engaging spiritual content, both written and audio-visual, for a Catholic audience.
  2. Proven understanding and awareness of the Catholic Church and parish life.
  3. Proven interest in digital communications, with experience of using digital channels and of uploading content to websites.
  4. Knowledge of publishing production processes including writing, copy editing and proof reading.
  5. Interest in all forms of communication.

 

Desirable Criteria

  1. Understanding of Theology sufficient to edit for accessibility.
