Communications Officer

London, Greater London (Hybrid)
£27,000 per year
Full-time
Contract (12 months)
Job description

The role:

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation UK Branch is seeking a Communications Officer to join its grant-making team based in London.

The Communications Officer will work with colleagues in the UK and Portugal to help deliver our communications and partnership activities, with a focus on our ‘Climate and Ocean’ grant-making programme.

What you’ll work on:

In this role you will get to contribute to a variety of projects related to climate, ocean, and culture. You will be supported by a line manager in London, working closely with our diverse, friendly team in the UK and with colleagues in our Head Office in Portugal.

This is an exciting time to join our team. In 2023 we embarked on the Foundation’s new strategy, focused on Sustainability and Equity. The UK Branch works with civil society organisations in the UK and beyond to deliver on this strategy, aiming to increase public engagement with ocean-climate action and support equitable access to culture. We convene events, produce new evidence and support activities that help us deliver on these ambitious goals.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone with great collaboration, communication, and project management skills. This is an ideal position for someone with around two years of relevant experience in communications, civil society, philanthropy, partnership building and/or relevant sectors that the UK Branch works within (e.g., climate and culture), gained through any route. There will be lots of on-the-job and training opportunities for the candidate to learn and develop professionally. A Portuguese speaker would be an advantage.

Terms and benefits:

  • One-year fixed term contract.

  • £27,000 salary.

  • 28 days of annual leave in addition to UK statutory holidays.

  • Based in our London office, but with the possibility of some homeworking.

  • Home working equipment provided.

  • This role may require some out of hours work, and there will be opportunities for national and international travel.

  • Pension scheme with matched contributions of up to 10% per year (after a successful probation period).

  • Equal opportunity policy, and applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds are encouraged.

  • Other benefits include generous budget for employee training, access to an employee assistance scheme and mental health support, and access to schemes such as cycle to work.

Please read the Job Description for more details about the role and responsibilities as well as the ideal competencies and experiences saved in the attached documents.

Please note that all candidates must be eligible to work in the U.K.

All Candidates will be requested to complete an Equal opportunities Form (not compulsory). The Equality Act 2010 protects people from discrimination and promotes equality on the basis of a number of ‘protected characteristics’.
