Insight Manager

Providing the insight to underpin how we make decisions

We are seeking a talented individual to undertake the role of Insight Manager. This role will be fundamental in helping us to better understand our customer and prospect base, understanding how market data can better inform decision making.

CEM - The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring - is part of the Cambridge family and is a vibrant organisation which, since its beginning over 30 years ago, has established a reputation for innovation and quality in educational assessment and research. CEM works with schools, colleges, education authorities, government agencies and other organisations to provide high quality information through scientifically grounded research.

We are open to applications from candidates based anywhere in the UK – you will just need to be committed to travelling to the Gateshead and Cambridge when required.

Data set up and maintenance

As Insight Manager, you will create reports that show end to end tracking of marketing and sales activities as well as monitoring campaign dashboards. You will identify where improvements may be found and identify creative ways to pool multiple datasets from disparate systems and understand how RoI can be improved

Data Analysis

You will use your skills in data analysis to provide weekly market activity reports mapped to sales progress as well as monthly senior leadership and board-level reporting. You will understand the key sales cycles and map marketing cycles and data reports where available from other Cambridge Business Units.


Working very closely with marketing team members, both in CEM and within other business units across Cambridge University Press & Assessment, you will form excellent working relationships with sales and product teams, enabling them to have ample visibility of marketing data to inform their own decisions. Also working with systems architects to seek greater efficiencies and adoption of data you will understand client and prospective client perspectives.


As a champion for customers, you will understand the competitor landscape and advise on trends in such. You will plan and conduct research on key themes within education and CEM and conduct customer listening exercises. This will cover areas such as brand perception, product insights and reasons to buy from CEM.

What we're looking for

You will be highly engaging with an ability to see the bigger picture and understand how this role fits within many departments. With highly developed analytical skills, the ability to see data trends, anomalies in data and ways to improve data congruency, you will have experience in interacting with prospects and clients and garnering qualitative and quantitative key information. With the ability to maintain motivation whilst working alone and yet be collaborative to aid progress, you will either be qualified to degree level or with equivalent experience,

Our ideal candidate will also have experience of some or all of the following:

  • Highly IT literate with sales and marketing software and typical data sets
  • Experience to intermediate or advanced level with PowerBI
  • Experience to intermediate or advanced level with Microsoft Flow
  • Experience creating and monitoring dashboards
  • Experience using CRMs such as Salesforce, SAP Hana, DS365, etc.
  • Ability to maintain motivation whilst working alone and yet be collaborative to aid progress.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Data Studio would be advantageous but not essential
