About us:

Colostomy UK is a national charity that offers support and advice to people who have had stoma surgery (ostomates) and to their friends, families and carers. Our projects empower ostomates to return to sports, hobbies and other activities after their surgery and give them the confidence to take on fresh challenges. We advocate for ostomates’ rights and are their voice on the bigger issues. Our campaigns raise awareness of life with a stoma and encourage organisations to make their facilities more inclusive.

About the role:

As the Fundraising Executive you will work to grow income through developing our community engagement, attracting, building and managing relationships with a range of supporters (individual donors and fundraisers, community groups, local businesses, volunteers etc). You will lead on the stewardship of events and challenges, including our annual Step Up campaign, by supporting individuals and groups to raise funds through fundraising activities. The post-holder will also support the recording of donations, send appropriate acknowledgements, review fundraising materials, and prepare fundraising content for social media, our website and our quarterly magazine, Tidings.

You will be joining a collaborative and innovative team of individuals who put our community first and are connected by a passion to make a real difference. We offer the opportunity for professional development across a range of fundraising disciplines, including community, individual giving, digital, legacy and corporate, as well as the potential to support fundraising from charitable trusts. Practicalities:

This role may involve occasional overnight stays, early mornings, evenings and weekends so some flexibility is a must.

Ideally you will work regularly at our head office in the first few weeks in post to aid a successful induction period. Following this, you may continue to be office-based full time, or work on a hybrid or remote basis.

Core role responsibilities

 ·Working alongside the Fundraising Manager to implement the fundraising strategy, with a focus on building unrestricted income

·Donor stewardship, including recording and thanking for donations, and other supporter communications, to encourage long-term, repeat support – engaging existing supporters, making them feel valued, proud, and committed to supporting the charity

·Working with our supporters to organise and host interesting activities and events in the community and digitally, to significantly increase fundraising income; ensuring excellent support of their activities during planning and delivery, and arranging attendance from the Colostomy UK team and volunteers as appropriate

·Preparing appealing fundraising materials and content for all types of communications

·Representing and raising the profile of the organisation externally by giving presentations and promoting the need for fundraising among different audiences

·Working with the Marketing & Social Media Executive to ensure fundraising is included in our public-facing communications, to supporters and audiences on social media, in newsletters and on other channels; ensuring our website, social media channels and print material are kept up to date with fundraising news and activities that inspire engagement and giving

Role Summary

Role Responsibilities

• Effectively create and deliver the communications strategy, in line with the vision and missional objectives.

• Identity, develop and lead a team of volunteers for involvement in Sunday services & key events throughout the year, developing a consistent style of photography and videography across services and events, including editing all Sunday and midweek content, compiling/organising photos.
• Manage all digital platforms and access to church accounts.
• Socials - Manage all social media accounts and continually develop ways to grow and engage viewers, including concept creation and development of social media campaigns, and creating and designing social media content from Sunday and weekly events, scheduling and posting as required.
• Create templates and oversee social media delivery for other ministries e.g. youth and young adults.
• Design and produce print and digital assets, from lanyards and flyers to signs and T-shirts. (for e.g. online, Sunday services and other events and ministries) ensuring all publicity adheres to our brand guidelines.

This is a newly created role working within our Fundraising & Communication Dept.

Role summary

Working within our fundraising and communications team, you will support the management of our communications portfolio of work. Maintaining our consistent brand, you will lead on digital and print asset development. You will lead on supporter communications, assisting the rest of the team to raise the profile and bring new supporters into the organisation. You will manage our social channels, website content and newsletter, and developing creative assets and materials for our external work both in the UK and the US.

You will also support on fundraising within the organisation, gaining experience across a wide variety of income generation areas. This will typically focus on applications to small Trusts and Foundations, the delivery of our events and the implementation of our individual giving programme.

Location: Nine Elms, Central London – current requirement is for staff to be in the office a minimum of two days a week between Tuesday and Thursday

Job purpose

7. Support the attainment of funds from a variety of Trusts and Foundations, through submitting high quality applications.

8. Support Able Child Africa’s individual giving programme, assisting with donor communications, building relationships with donors and growing our income.

9. Support community fundraising activities, empowering existing and newly sourced supporters, (including schools, universities and other members of the public) to independently generate funds for Able Child Africa through independent events and activities.

Provide other support to the Fundraising and Communications and wider operational teams as agreed, including supporting routine office operations.

10. Maintain our Salesforce database, keeping detailed records of communications, support and donations from individuals and organisations.

11. Support our advocacy objectives, working with the Advocacy team to produce high quality and consistent messaging for use within the international development sector.

12. Support the delivery of unique and ongoing operational activities as required for the effective running of the organisation.

Competencies

Experience

1. At least one years’ experience in a fundraising or communications support role.

2. Experience of managing or supporting the management of events to, ideally including managing volunteers or supporters to raise funds.

3. Experience or knowledge of managing individual donors with demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders (including public, media and donors) to advance a cause.

Skills and Technical Competencies

4. Creative ability to assist in the production of engaging content for communication in line with the organisational brand and mission.

5. Competency in managing social channels under direction, developing newsletters and other blogs or articles.

6. Basic understanding of WordPress, and other design packages (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva) desirable.

About this role

This role is an opportunity to participate in the global movement to protect the natural world; meeting and supporting incredible communities and organisations driving change to secure a sustainable future. • Manage some grantee partner relationships, including building trust and openness, identifying capacity needs, administrating grants, monitoring progress and fulfilling reporting requirements.
• Provide administrative support across the Programmes Team with grant management e.g. preparing of grant paperwork, reviewing partner reports and checklists (proposals), monitoring pipelines.
• Undertake research in focal areas for the Programmes Team, such as identifying intervention points and opportunities to make a difference in conservation.

Reporting, location, and work hours

This position is a permanent full-time position that is based in the Synchronicity Earth offices in Central London, with the option for hybrid office/home working if the successful applicant wishes with 2 days a week in the office (laptop would be provided for home working). The successful candidate must be already eligible to work in the UK.

Annual leave

25 days per year for a full-time position (in addition to public holidays), adjusted for part-time. We also run an employer-supported volunteering programme, where employees may take additional time-off (2 days per annum) to volunteer for community organisations and other charities (in accordance with our policy).

About the Role

The Community Fundraisers steward relations with Individual fundraisers, schools, community groups, in memory and challenge eventers.  Supporting fundraisers who want to make a difference which sits at the heart of the charity’s Fundraising Strategy. What’s more, the new five-year strategy, will launch major fundraising campaigns for a new cancer hospital and a new children’s hospital, fundraising is set to reach an incredible level.

Whilst or community fundraising incorporates various income streams, you will be tasked and targeted to generate income from a specific area which may vary over time.

You’ll be working closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Community Fundraising to help make the Community Fundraising programme a genuine success, helping to maximise the lifetime value of supporters by ensuring they offer the very best stewardship and gratitude to those who fundraise and donate to the Hospital.

Ultimately, you’ll be playing a crucial role in helping to ensure that the greatest number of people are having the greatest impact to make things even better.

Carers Manchester is a partnership of Statutory and Voluntary Sector organisations who work together the plan, enhance and deliver advice and support services for unwaged carers in the city. Through working together, the Carers Manchester Pathway is in place, which supports carers being able to access the right advice and support at the right time in their caring journey.
