We are looking for a new senior fundraiser to join our energetic team to raise major gifts for a range of posts, scholarships and other priorities across the Humanities. Oxford is the world’s leading university for humanities teaching and research. About the Role
This fundraiser will work closely with senior academics in the Humanities Division. The post will focus primarily on funding for posts, scholarships and access and outreach in the academic faculties as well as securing support for the activities of the Cultural Programme and Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. An interest and appreciation for the arts and humanities is essential.
To Be Successful You’ll Need:
- To be an experienced development professional with a strong track record of securing major gifts and the ability to secure gifts in the range of £100k-£1m+
- Confidence to work with people from a range of backgrounds, both internally and externally
- The ability to think creatively in prospecting, cultivation and stewardship

Bristol Old Vic’s Fundraising and Development Department is responsible for building financial sustainability for BOV through securing external funding from individuals, corporates and trusts and foundations.
The Development Officer: Individuals & Corporates will secure income from individuals, through our giving schemes and major gifts, and corporate sponsors who support productions, engagement and community work and the newly formed literary department. You will steward existing donors to the highest standard and conduct proactive research into potential individual and corporate supporters as well as preparing presentations and proposals to secure their support. This role is vital to the current Transforming Fundraising Strategy as it will work to cultivate and steward individual support and corporate partnerships and provide accurate, targeted research to help shape our wider campaigns and approaches. As part of this role, you will also produce, briefing notes and due diligence reports for, the Director of Fundraising and Development (post to be appointed), BOV leadership team and Trustees.
The Development Officer: Trusts & Foundations will research potential Trust and Foundation supporters and work with colleagues to prepare compelling, successful grant applications. You will develop and steward a portfolio of Trusts and Foundations and establish a pipeline to ensure continued, growing support from them for our programming and engagement work. This role is vital to the current Transforming Fundraising Strategy as it will work on Trusts & Foundation fundraising and provide accurate, targeted research to help shape our campaigns and approaches.

Main Responsibilities
· Develop and implement the company’s development strategy including (but not limited to):
- Public Funding (including both ACW and ACE)
- Trusts and Foundations
- Corporate supporters and sponsors
- Private giving (individual donors and major givers)
· Research, identify and draft applications, pitches and asks to appropriate funders/supporters, cultivating relationships and securing support to achieve defined targets
· Manage and nurture the ongoing relationships with current and past supporters/funders
· Plan, manage and deliver a planned programme of development events
· Design and deliver reporting processes that are fit for purpose and satisfy funders’ and supporters’ requirements
· Support Finance Officer and Company Administrator in financial reporting of designated funds
· Manage development budgets
Position in the Company
The Development Manager will;
· Be line managed by the Executive Director and report to her
· Produce written updates for the Board of Trustees and report verbally to them as required
· Work in partnership with the company’s Communications and Marketing Manager to engage donors, prospects and key stakeholders with the company, moving from purely transactional relationships to ones based on emotional connection and commitment
· Work with the company’s Executive Team to cultivate new supporters and strategic delivery partners with which to develop and grow the company’s work both within the UK and Internationally
· Work with the company’s Community Programme Manager to cultivate new opportunities for support

We are seeking a new Head of Partnerships who will help us drive an uplift in our income, through building long-term relationships with corporate, strategic and international partners (including trusts & foundations and publicly funded project grants) and securing high-value and multi-year commitments to support our work.
As the Head of Partnerships, you will work closely with the Chief Executive, Festival Director, Director of Development and other SMT members to deliver a robust partnerships programme to support our strategic plan, and drive new business activity towards increasing our income. You will manage a committed and high-performing team, and work collaboratively across the Development office to maximise opportunities and donor relationships, ensuring that our offer is world-class, innovative, and attractive to the calibre of partners we want on board with us. To be successful in this role, you will bring experience of designing, pitching, negotiating, and securing major partnership agreements at the 6-figure level or more. Your strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, as well as your creative and successful approach to developing and managing relationships will help you build credibility quickly with key stakeholders internally and externally and make an impact. Previous experience of managing and getting the best out of team members is essential, as is your proactive, resilient and entrepreneurial nature. Your superpowers will be your persuasion skills and indefatigable sense of purpose.
