We are looking for a Head of Fundraising who can galvanise support for our work from funders and donors, develop a high-performing fundraising team, and support colleagues in developing fundable projects to restore habitats, engage people and bring wildlife back. Overall Purpose of Job

Main Responsibilities 
•     Lead and develop the Trust’s fundraising, overseeing development of prospect pipelines and growing income year on year from membership, major donors, individual giving, legacies, corporate partnerships, grants and charitable trusts, ensuring that the Trust achieves its restricted and unrestricted income targets 

•     Inspire funding support for the Trust’s work through relationship-based fundraising with major donors, corporates and grant-making bodies 

•     Enable delivery colleagues to secure funding for their work, supporting the development of fundable projects and high quality bids and securing continuation funding 

•     Stimulate growth in individual giving from members and non-members through the development and implementation of an ambitious plan incorporating supporter development, recruitment and retention. 

•     Ensure fundraising systems are working effectively and all activity is compliant with the Trust’s policies, fundraising guidelines from regulators, and all relevant legislation, including Data Protection and Health and Safety. 

•     Manage an integrated functional team across fundraising, contribute to the direction and development of the Trust as a member of the leadership team and undertake other duties in line with the role as requested 

Working hours
35 hours per week – Mondays – Fridays throughout the year (there may be some flexibility with start and finish times in this role). Please note you will be required to regularly work outside of the normal office hours to attend and run events.

Development and Alumni Relations at Ipswich School
The School’s Development Office was established in 2006 to work with the School’s communities, including past pupils (known as ‘Old Ipswichians’ or OIs), and current and former parents, to encourage support for Ipswich School through events, volunteering and financial support.

This is an exciting role based in our Development Office, which is vital to the smooth running of our alumni community, the Old Ipswichians. Our alumni are an important part of the School’s past, present and future. The Head of Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs will work alongside the Director of Patient Projects and Influencing to spearhead our advocacy and influencing strategy, driving forward our agenda to transform prostate cancer advocacy and improve outcomes for people affected by prostate cancer. This strategic role involves building essential relationships with politicians and key stakeholders, increasing our organisational profile, and leveraging findings to advocate for policy changes. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Strategic Advocacy and Campaign Leadership: Develop and lead PCR’s campaign and public affairs activities, ensuring strategies are focussed on achieving meaningful policy and practice change on the highest priority issues, including screening and access to innovative and evolving treatment options. 

• Stakeholder Engagement: Forge strategic relationships and build our profile among politicians, policymakers, regulators and KoLs to enhance our impact and position Prostate Cancer Research as a source of trusted information for prostate cancer policy. 

• Shaping Policy: Coordinate responses to relevant consultations, such as government, MHRA, trade bodies, and NICE/SMC appraisals, where appropriate.

• Evidence-Based Advocacy: Utilise findings from funded reports, such as our Overtreatment/Overdiagnosis report and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA), to advocate for change in screening and other relevant policies, and support/commission the development of further evidence as needed.

• Relationship Building and Event Coordination: Identify and cultivate potential parliamentary champions and supporters and host impactful events. 

• Patient Centricity: Ensure our patients remain at the centre of this work, putting structures in place for them to be involved in setting priorities, informing our policy positions with their lived experience, and advocating for change. 

• Policy Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and analyse relevant healthcare policy in the UK to inform the organisation’s strategic development and seize on political opportunities.

Candidate Profile: 

Experience 

• Strong knowledge/experience of the health and social care sector, its public bodies, and key relevant policies 

• An excellent understanding of the UK political environmental, structures of government at national, local and devolved nation levels, with established relationships with key stakeholders or a proven ability to develop these efficiently and effectively. 

• Demonstrable experience in advocacy, public affairs, or a related field, with a proven track record of successful and integrated campaigns to change public policy. 

• Strong experience working cross-functionally within a fast-paced organisation.

ROLE

Stella Maris is growing as a charity, in terms of income generation and new programmes of activity around the world. To help support this development, we have created this new important role. The Fundraising & Communications team at Stella Maris comprises about 12 staff members (some full time; some part time).  The team and the charity have now reached the point in their evolution where we need to appoint a Major Donor Manager. This post holder will offer excellent stewardship to our existing Major Donors. He/she will also help to identify and cultivate new potential Major Donors from within and outside our existing pool of individual donors. He/she will substantially grow the Major Donor income stream for the charity. He/she will cultivate and steward Major Donors to give in new and more impactful ways, will increase giving levels, will increase the number of Major Donors, and will create lasting and meaningful relationships with our most committed and generous supporters. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and effective Major Donor fundraiser. The postholder will help us, as a leading maritime charity, to achieve our mission to support seafarers, fishers and their families around the world.

MAIN PURPOSE

The Major Donor Manager, reporting into the Director of Development and working with some guidance from the Head of Major Gifts, will maintain and grow a stable pipeline of income from Major Donors. He/she will secure unrestricted and restricted income from a portfolio of Major Donors to support the activities of the Stella Maris network in the UK and overseas. He/she will produce cultivation plans for individual Major Donors, meet them, craft tailored applications and reports for them.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Manage relationships with a portfolio of Major Donors in accordance with the Charities fundraising strategy and giving programme activity.

2 Establish individual donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship strategies, ensuring each prospect and existing donor has an appropriate communications and cultivation programme in place.

3 Ensure that donor profiling and research activity is undertaken on existing and potential Major Donors (within data protection regulation guidelines) in order to enhance and develop relations.

4 Identify potential Major Donors from within the Mid-Value Donor portfolio and help graduate them up to Major Donor giving levels.

5 Working with the Governance and Executive team, conduct meetings and visits with individual Major Donors around the UK.

6 Accompany Major Donors on port visits within the UK and possibly abroad.

7 Craft carefully tailored applications, thank you letters and reports for Major Donors.

8 Support other senior staff and stakeholders, such as Trustees, in cultivating relationships with Major Donors by providing research and other information as required, and bringing them to meetings with Major Donors when appropriate.

9 Build and cultivate relationships with intermediaries, e.g. wealth advisers, lawyers.

10 Arrange events for Major Donors.

11 Ensure that all activity is recorded accurately on the charity’s Customer Relationship Management database, and that actions are undertaken in a timely and professional manner. 

12 Extract monthly reports on activity levels with Major Donors, e.g. number of contacts, meetings, asks, etc., and circulate this internally to selected senior staff members.

About the role

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams. 

If you think you have the skills, qualities and drive to fulfil this role, but don’t meet all of the specifications, or perhaps you’ve gained your experience in (for example) commercial sales or within relationships management and are looking to move into development work, we would still welcome hearing from you. The Head of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in fostering strong connections between the school and our alumni and parent community. Person Specification

The ideal candidate will need to:

• Be able to demonstrate a track record of securing, administering, and stewarding significant gifts from donors, or significant experience in leading income generation activity through regular giving programmes within the charitable sector.
• Work with the Head, Bursar, Director of Development, Foundation Trustees, and other senior colleagues and volunteers to research, plan and undertake donor cultivation and solicitation meetings.
• Maintain positive working relationships with all constituents in the King’s community, including alumni, parents, and pupils to encourage lifelong engagement through participation, advocacy, and support.
• Be a great problem solver with the ability to work laterally to identify opportunities and provide solutions to fundraising challenges.
• Work with the Director of Development on developing a methodical fundraising programme, ranging from regular contributions, through to major gifts and legacies. Implementing the development fundraising strategy to support the school’s vision and bursary ambitions.
• Be experienced in using donor and potential donor relationship management systems, for example Raiser’s Edge or ToucanTech.

· Work with the company’s Executive Team to cultivate new supporters and strategic delivery partners with which to develop and grow the company’s work both within the UK and Internationally

· Work with the company’s Community Programme Manager to cultivate new opportunities for support

· Manage the Development Officer

As a result, we are launching a transformational fundraising plan to 2030, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Philanthropy Adviser to help us meet our ambitious targets, securing high value donations from our existing networks and helping us to reach out to new contacts and networks to build our pipeline for support.

You will be focussed on developing a portfolio of high value supporters in the UK, but you will also develop strong working relationships across high value fundraising activities in the USA and Australia, as well as more widely across the fundraising communications teams, and also with senior leadership including the CEO and with our volunteers including trustees.

To this end we are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our Philanthropy team in this role. The role requires an individual with passion and drive to inspire and motivate donors to give significant funding to our cause, but also with the ability to listen and understand prospect motivations, in order to build lasting relationships. You will have expert technical and professional skills in major donor fundraising and a proven ability to develop fundraising strategy for high level donors.

Your key focus in this role is on building and maintaining high-value donor relationships, and you will be supported in this by our expert Research & Insight team, providing donor and prospect research and briefings and inputting into strategy, and our expert Philanthropy Engagement team, who develop and manage various engagement opportunities for major supporter and prospects, from events, trips and newsletters to bespoke proposals and reports.

• Work with members to platform collective action for climate and nature, celebrating what people are doing to drive more action & surface the public mandate for political support for more of this

• Work to translate collective action into a new vision and narrative on climate and nature

• Support the coalition and wider movement to achieve greater impact through coalition working, strengthening the climate movement

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Lead the convening of members and community organisers to co-create, facilitate and deliver the Climate Coalition’s people-centred campaigns, projects and programmes, ensuring strong engagement from members and contribution to movement-building

• Lead creative coalition campaigns to mobilise the public at scale, and demonstrate the public mandate for change 

• Oversee the development and delivery of placed-based convening in key locations: Project Groundgame

• Work with members and partners to develop projects and initiatives that support collective action 

• Work with members, partners and allies to harvest, catalogue and platform stories of collective action in a way which makes the case for systems change

• Build strong relationships with members and the wider movement, understanding how coalition work can help achieve their objectives

• To play a leadership role within the Secretariat team, and line manage other team members

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

ESSENTIAL

• Exceptional leadership skills, with significant experience of facilitating effective collaboration and coalition-building 

• Significant understanding and experience of using a suite of influencing tactics to build power and create campaign impact, including both mobilising and organising tactics

• Experience of using public engagement campaigns to affect change

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrable experience of building and managing relationships with a diverse range of partners and allies 

• Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure

• A sophisticated understanding of the role of civil society and social movements in driving political, social and economic change 

• Strong empathy and interpersonal skills, and a passion for building bridges between people and groups from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

• Proven leadership and people management skills, able to develop team members for high performance and build a positive culture

• Passionately believe in building power, and aware of issues re power and privilege which relate to this (EDI)

DESIRABLE

• Experience of using storytelling and narrative to drive change

• Financial acumen to manage budgets, understand financial statements and understand and use business metrics

• Knowledge/experience of working in the climate, nature or international development sectors

• Experience of working with arts and culture sector
