The Canal & River Trust look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of our waterways, believing that life is better by water. The Trust is seeking a Head of Individual and Legacy Giving to develop and deliver their individual and legacy giving strategy to achieve income and donor targets.

Our canals and rivers have been critical over the last few months, providing a safe, accessible space on people’s doorsteps during the Covid-crisis for daily exercise. The Trust want to do much more in terms of delivering on health and wellbeing for local communities through our waterways, and fundraising will be key to that success.

The Head of Individual and Legacy Giving will lead the Trust’s individual giving programmes and develop existing and new propositions, products, audiences, channels and technology and will develop and deliver excellent supporter journeys that build long-term loyalty and value.

The role will lead a small, growing individual and legacy giving team and will act as an ambassador for Individual Giving throughout the Trust and to stakeholders across the country.

The Trust is looking for a confident, collaborative professional with strong interpersonal and people management skills and a track record of building, developing and managing teams of Indiviudal Giving, Legacy Giving and supporter development professionals.

You will have at least ten years of fundraising or consumer marketing experience and extensive experience of developing and implementing individual giving strategies and achieving significant results in increasing income and improving long-term supporter value. You will also have a strong track record in developing regular giving programmes and of direct marketing appeals as well as a thorough understanding of digital marketing approaches and techniques in a fundraising context. Finally, you will be a natural leader with a strategic mindset and a flair for innovation, with the drive and determination to success whilst respecting others.
