Job Description

Programme Lead - International Cancer Prevention

Location: London with regular international travel

Salary: c£50k

The role is full-time however we are a flexible working employer and therefore we will consider flexible working requests.

Globally, 9.6 million people are dying from cancer each year, and three-quarters of these are in low and middle-income countries. We're looking for a passionate and experienced individual to lead Cancer Research UK's international cancer prevention programme. Providing oversight to an ambitious grants portfolio spanning 26 countries, this is an exciting opportunity to drive and shape progress on a significant health issue, that's gaining momentum on the global agenda.

The International Cancer Prevention Lead will drive the delivery of a high impact policy research programme; developing a strategic approach to influencing change and working at a high level with other major international funders and leading international experts. This role will be responsible for managing and developing networks that support the programme and building new partnerships. This is an exciting part of Cancer Research UK's international strategy, and the role provides an opportunity to work across multiple levels within the charity and to interact with other research organisations and funders around the world to accelerate research progress.

Who we're looking for:


  • International programme delivery including monitoring and evaluation techniques

  • Experience working in growing programmes and developing programme strategy

  • Experience of research funding and grant making in low- and middle-income countries

  • Understanding and experience of the use of evidence in policy-making

  • International development and capacity building

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Senior level influencer and relationship building internationally
