Job description

Diversity and Inclusion Lead

Circa £40,000 per annum

Fixed term – 12 Months

Working from home

Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

In the last 12 months at Unicef UK, we have made significant ground in developing our diversity and inclusion approach. We have had a number of successes including  the launch of our strategy and  our first equality, diversity and inclusion culture survey, hosting over 20 learning sessions (many involving external experts), roundtables on race, LGBT+ and disability issues, producing an race anti-racism resource pack, providing support for colleagues to talk openly about D&I issues, as well as strengthening relationships with various teams, networks and senior leaders.

To realise the goals and commitments set out in our strategy, we are seeking to recruit a Diversity and Inclusion Lead to continue the great work that has been started to build an inclusive culture that is sustainable, meeting both current and longer-term needs.

We are looking for someone with excellent ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and busy role working with multiple stakeholders at all levels. You will have excellent networking skills with the ability to influence and build positive relationships, bringing people together to achieve desired outcomes. You will need demonstrable experience of evolving existing work plans adding your own flare and creativity to achieve results. Existing D&I knowledge and expertise is required as is passion to learn and develop.

Act now and visit our website via the button below to apply online.

Closing Date: Thursday, 26 November 2020 at 5pm

Interview date: Monday, 7 December 2020 via MS Teams

We are normally based on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London but while our office is closed, this role will work from home or from wherever makes you happy.

We particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates, candidates with disabilities, and from men, because we would like to increase the representation of these groups at this level. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to greater results for children.

Unicef UK promotes equality, diversity and inclusion in our workplace. We make employment decisions by matching business needs with skills and experience of candidates, irrespective of age, disability (including hidden disabilities), gender, gender identity or gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a criminal records check. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the role and the circumstances of your offences.

We only accept online applications as this saves us money, making more funds available for us to help ensure children’s rights.

If you require support in completing the online form or an application form in an alternative format, please contact Supporter Care during office hours.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that we only provide feedback to shortlisted candidates.
