At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young people whose lives are just too short. Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Did you know that every year we need to raise £5m to keep our doors open and only around 20 percent of our income comes from government sources? The rest has to be raised through fundraising activity.
Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team supports these families in our modern, purpose built building. All our rooms/bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.
We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use.
The role
As part of re designing our services, we are currently seeking three children’s nurses with post registration experience, to join our In House Care Team. You will be working as part of a supportive team consisting of Team Leads, Nurses and care support workers and allied health professionals. Working as part of a team you will provide a high standard of holistic care and be able to balance opportunities for children to experience play, social interaction and learning alongside managing the diverse nursing needs of the children staying with us.
We are looking for resilient, enthusiastic individuals who want to deliver high quality, evidence based paediatric palliative care.
From 1st April 2022 all direct care provision and/or close contact roles at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice require full COVID vaccination as a Condition of Deployment. The role of Nurse falls into this category.

Adult Re-settlement Case Worker – Bridge to Home Project
Hours: Full time 35 hours a week

Responsible to: Housing & Wellbeing Lead
Location: Option to work from the office in Chorley or a mix of home and office working, with extensive travel across Lancashire for work activities, meetings, and training.
Bridge to Home is a support initiative aimed at helping people transition from hospital wards back into their local communities. Our goal is to provide a seamless and comfortable experience for those who have been discharged from the hospital and require additional support during their recovery journey.
Your new role
This role will be responsible for delivering personalised intensive one-to-one support and guidance to individuals accessing the Bridge to Home and Lancashire Mind Housing & Wellbeing services in and around Lancashire
You will be required to work closely with hospital ward staff and other statutory services to offer personalised opportunities to people experiencing mental health issues, ready to be discharged from hospital wards.
What you will need to succeed
You will need experience of working with people a diverse range of mental health conditions to overcome barriers to independent living, to have a knowledge of homelessness and housing needs, specific to people with mental health issues and have experience of collaborating with medical professionals, social services, housing providers and local community and voluntary groups.
It is important that the right candidate is an excellent communicator, able to listen and understand people’s needs but also confident communicating and liaising with other local services and partner agencies to ensure each person has the right support in place.
An excellent working knowledge of safeguarding practices for protecting vulnerable people is also key to this role and the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate proven experience of this.
Ideally, an understanding of the issues which arise within the social housing sector or experience working in a similar role would be an advantage.
You will need to be a good team player, with the ability to work well with others and be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.

Your new role
We are looking for a new Tenancy Management Worker to join our small and friendly team to manage a caseload of customers who have complex needs including mental health conditions, substance misuse, homelessness, and a possible history of offending.
Your job will be to work closely with these individuals to promote independent living and help them to achieve and sustain their tenancies. This is a challenging and varied job which is often rewarding, particularly when the people we have supported achieve their own goals and move on to build better lives.

About the role
Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our ideal candidate will have worked in advocacy, information and advice or similar role before, ideally in a health, social care or voluntary setting and will have experience of working with vulnerable adults.

a) Main purpose of job

Post Title Progression Worker
Responsible to Director of Services (subject to review)
Purpose of Post To support users of services through an education, training, and employability programme integrated with SCT’s wider services and enterprise offer, as well as partner opportunities in the wider community. We are dedicated to supporting those who access our Training and Development service to explore further Education, Training, and Employment (ETE) opportunities as part of SCT’s Progressions Programme, both within and outside of SCT. This includes those in early recovery who are resident in our abstinent-based recovery service (‘Acorn House’), as well as those in our move-on house and the wider community who may be more established in their recovery. SCT’s Progression Worker supports those accessing our services to explore ETE opportunities, offering tailored, individually specific support to help them reach their full potential. SCT’s Progression Programme is centred on empowering people in recovery to cultivate confidence and realise their potential.
SCT Progressions Programme

Identifying SCT residents and students ready to pursue ETE opportunities:
-
Collaborate with SCT tutors and managers, particularly the Therapeutic Programme Manager and Supported Housing Manager, to identify those who may benefit from the support on offer.

Cultivate strong relationships with SCT’s social enterprises and shops to establish clear pathways for volunteering and trainee opportunities for those who access our services.
-
Conduct assessments, develop and implement individualised Progression Plans, and evaluate progress according to each person’s needs, strengths and aspirations, involving key internal and external partners as appropriate.

Providing information, advice, and guidance regarding ETE opportunities:
-
Offer information, initial advice, and guidance on employment, voluntary work, and further education opportunities.

Promote SCT's work to external partners to maximise ETE opportunities for those who access our services.

Make referrals for placements, volunteering experiences, apprenticeship schemes, colleges, and other external programmes.

Support individual users of services with referrals and applications for ETE opportunities.

Maintain partnerships with relevant ETE providers to offer diverse opportunities to users of services.

Work with corporate partners offering employability opportunities to users of services.

Design, develop, and deliver employability workshops as required.

Oversight of users of SCT services volunteering in SCT’s social enterprises and shops:

Match potential volunteers to SCT volunteering opportunities.

Support potential volunteers with applications for volunteering opportunities.

Liaise with colleagues who will be managing volunteering experiences.

Conduct risk assessments.

Support volunteers on an ongoing basis.

Hold regular review meetings with volunteers, and SCT colleagues.

Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting:

Maintain accurate records of activities, outcomes, and feedback, including monitoring of In-Form, SCT’s bespoke CRM data management system.

Input relevant data to In-Form to track participants’ progress.

Identify success stories of participants overcoming significant barriers to learning and work.

Collaborate with colleagues to celebrate success stories through various channels.

Participate in quality improvement activities, staff development opportunities, and self-evaluation.

Assist Fundraising, Communications, and Marketing colleagues in preparing funding applications and reports.

Providing Ongoing Support to Progression Alumni:

Conduct regular check-in calls/meetings with users of services.

Direct users of services to relevant support services, where necessary, for maintaining their recovery.

Organise an annual Progression Alumni event to celebrate service users' achievements and maintain contact.
SCT Training & Development

Co-ordinating the enrolment process for Training and Development activities for SCT residents and non-residents

Ensuring plans are developed for those participating in Training and Development activities to progress according to their needs, strengths, aspirations, and available opportunities, including consideration for SCT’s Progressions Programme.

Essential Skills:

Demonstrated experience engaging vulnerable, long-term unemployed adults in relevant educational, employment, and training programmes.

Understanding of addiction and recovery.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with a range of people including users of services, corporate volunteers, funders and trustees.

Working knowledge of welfare benefits and experience supporting of supporting people to maximise their income.

About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our bank as a Welfare Officer, providing cover as required for the SSAFA RAF Service across the UK.
Our Bank Welfare Officers will provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family on an ad hoc basis when a full-time member of the team is unavailable to do so.
As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.
Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.
Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you may be asked to use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.
You will work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

About you
To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.
You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.
There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive, have access to your own car and be flexible to spend nights away from home occasionally within the UK at short notice..
