BAME Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with CARE to support the recruitment of their new Executive Director of Fundraising, Partnerships and Communication.

This includes developing the charity’s supporter engagement, from both individual supporters and employees of partner organisations, and maintaining and brokering relationships with private sector partnerships.

Who they’re looking for

As part of CARE’s commitment to ending poverty and social inequality, a new Executive Director is sought to lead the Fundraising, Partnerships and Communications Department. Joining an experienced and dynamic team, the postholder will design and oversee a new fundraising and engagement strategy with an “audience-first” approach, and to ensure new funding streams are robust enough to support the charity’s work going forward. The role will be pivotal in helping how CARE presents itself both in and externally, and as part of the SMT the postholder will have direct involvement with developing and implementing annual and longer-term strategic plans across the whole organisation, and also participate in global initiatives.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • The Executive Director will take full accountability for the department’s income and other engagement targets, working alongside other team Heads to ensure objectives are met; this will include analysing efficacy of different methods and reallocating resources as and when necessary
  • Working alongside the Policy & Programmes ED to maximise international brand recognition and competitive consultancy opportunities; represent the organisation as an external influencer
  • Regularly participate in CAREs wider organisational policy, direction and culture developments, as well as with Board and Committees to ensure policy decisions are effectively implemented, monitored and reported.

The skills and experience needed

  • Demonstrable skills in creative fundraising strategy, strategic marketing, financial planning/budgeting and data analysis, as well as skills in leading and inspiring a cross-functional team;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organisation: the ability to forge mutually beneficial partnerships with external parties; have the gravitas to assure all categories of funders that resources are being fully and properly divested;
  • Bring solid experience of all fundraising and supporter engagement activities, including corporate; trusts, legacy and major gifts; DM; and events; plus, skills in developing and winning major £1m+ contracts
