Carers Trust is a major charity for the UK’s seven million unpaid carers. We are a dynamic and forward thinking organisation with ambition to extend our reach and services so that with our Network Partners we can increase the support, services and recognition we provide for anyone living with the challenges of caring for a family member or friend.
The number of unpaid carers is increasing significantly, with three in five of us likely to become an unpaid carer at some point in our lifetime. Unpaid carers save the state £132bn worth of care every year and act as a main support to our stretched health and social care systems.
Following a refresh of the Trustee board, Carers Trust are looking to appoint two new Trustees with the following areas of focus:
Chair of our England Board
One of the new Trustees of our UK Board will also become the Chair of our England Board which is in an exciting developmental phase.
With growing regional representation, the England Board will be crucial in helping shape the future direction of our work to influence society for unpaid carers and deliver impactful programmes for unpaid carers with Carers Trust Network Partners.
Our England Board is part of our formal governance structure at Carers Trust and will act as a conduit between Network Partners and our Board of Trustees.
As Chair of our England Board and a Trustee of Carers Trust, you will be able to demonstrate:
• An understanding and commitment to the needs of unpaid carers.
• An ability to play a key role in the continued growth and success of Carers Trust.
• The ability to provide leadership to a diverse range of stakeholders across our England network.
In addition, you will bring your in-depth knowledge of the health and social care landscape in England and excellent interpersonal skills to take on the role of Chair of our England Board.
We are also seeking a new Trustee with a legal background to support the UK Board and Carers Trust in achieving our charitable aims.
We are looking for someone who has skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
• A suitable legal qualification.
• Experience in or knowledge of legal requirements relating to charitable/ company law and associated governance.
• Experience of corporate social responsibility partnerships/collaborations.
Both Trustees will play a vital role in the oversight of the charity ensuring that it delivers against its charitable objectives, is financially sustainable, has strong governance and safeguards the name and values of the organisation. We also welcome applications from those who have/have had experience of a caring role.
