Our mission is to build hope, enable lasting change, and end homelessness for people in East London. We are here to help people in our local community to build their new beginnings, by:
Providing a safe place - to make sure that people experiencing homelessness have somewhere safe to stay as they begin to rebuild their lives
Offering support - to encourage and enable people to build a better future for themselves, through the provision of personalised support, educational and life skills opportunities
Building resilience – to build networks of support, and empower people to navigate services with confidence and be a proactive member of their community outside of and beyond life at Caritas Anchor House.

About the role
With great ambition comes the need for great people, and we’re looking for someone fantastic to be part of a new and growing team providing an effective, high-quality support service to our residents in the service for our residents who have high to complex support needs and working in a team that is going through an exciting period of change.
This role is responsible for the service delivery of an effective, high-quality, person-centered support service to residents with a range of high to complex needs. They will be the principal providers of support to residents in service and will also work alongside Assistant Support Workers, to promote resident engagement through the development of positive relationships with our residents and contributing towards the promotion of a fulfilling, safe and inclusive environment.
Please note that this role is fixed term until 31 May 2022, on a full-time basis working on a Monday to Sunday rota. The minimum starting salary is £26,000 per annum.
To be successful in this role you will need to have a demonstrable level of experience and understanding of the range of approaches appropriate to working with challenging behaviour including current drug /or alcohol use, antisocial behaviour, offending, substance misuse, and complex needs. You will also need good IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office packages) and an awareness of issues facing single people that experience homelessness or rough sleeping. A proven track record working within the local authority, volunteering, independent, charity, or a social housing association is also a real advantage.
It would be an advantage if you had a full current driving license and a successful track record in developing services in response to changing needs and demands.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels, maintaining professional boundaries
- Qualifications relevant to supporting vulnerable adults
- Ability to interpret and communicate the meaning of legislation, policy, guidance, research, and information on best practice
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting supported housing and vulnerable customer groups
This position does require an ability and willingness to work shifts including evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
