Job description

(Un-paid – out of pocket expenses reimbursed)

Caritas Care is a registered charity operated as a company limited by guarantee. The Trustees of the charity are also directors of the company. An established and respected social care agency, Caritas Care has provided a range of high quality social welfare projects and services for over 80 years to children and families, people and communities in Lancashire, Cumbria and Greater Manchester. Our work includes Adoption, Foster Care, Learning Disability Services and a range of Community Projects for people of all ages.

Whilst originating from a Catholic background, the charity is now fully independent of the church; however, its Catholic ethos and value base continues to inspire its work. Based in Preston, we employ over 200 staff. Our annual turnover is approximately £7m.

We wish to recruit four new members to join our Board of Trustees

At a time of uncertainly for the charitable sector, to help us meet the challenges ahead, we need people who can help direct Caritas Care towards achieving its vision and mission and ensure the organisation is effectively managed.

You would need to be able to make a commitment to Caritas Care and devote the necessary time, have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind. We are particularly seeking new trustees who also have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance

  • Business and commerce
  • Fundraising

  • Work to a senior level within the public or voluntary sector

This is not an exhaustive list, and more information is available in the application pack.

We are keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community. We would particularly welcome applications from the BAME community, which is currently under-represented on our Board.

If you are looking for an exciting way to use your skills and experience effectively, get involved in your community and make a difference, please get in touch!

For an informal discussion about the role of trustee, please contact the Chief Executive, Susan Swarbrick
