Carrs Lane Counselling Centre Ltd is a registered charity run on a voluntary basis. We are one of the pioneers of counselling for adults within Birmingham, and we have been successfully helping people for over fifty years. We are dedicated to providing a low cost first class counselling service for adults from Birmingham and the surrounding area, who can travel to meet a counsellor here. We have been providing counselling to clients for over 50 years. We are currently seeking a Fundraiser to join our team and help us continue to provide our much needed service.
Fundraiser – Job Description
Job Title: Fundraiser
Qualifications: Educated to A level / equivalent experience
Responsible to: Counselling Service Manager and Board of Trustees
Salary: £12 per hour
Hours: Variable. Estimate up to 6 hours per week, plus attendance at Trustee Meetings (2 hours, 6 times a year)
Contract: 12 months from start date
DBS Check: Required
The Counselling Centre operates as an independent charity and company limited by guarantee, although supported by The Church at Carrs Lane, where the Counselling Centre facilities are based. Present turnover is approximately £60K.
The fundraiser will report to and work with a named trustee having regular supervision sessions to set targets, monitor workload and effect post-holder performance appraisal, training and development. The fundraiser will be expected to work closely with the centre manager and volunteer treasurer as well as with other members of the centre. In most instances the work of this position can be done remotely from home.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The post holder will:
- Develop and maintain key contacts for all small and medium sized trust relationships
- Write funding proposals for new and existing projects in consultation with the named trustee and centre manager.
- Develop the rolling programme of submissions to Trusts and Foundations for both core and project grants
- Maintain and work to an accurate personal work-plan of scheduled fundraising activity and proposal submissions and ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors
- Take responsibility for updating and maintaining trust records on the working database and ensure monthly back-up onto the office system.
- Produce reports as required.
- Liaise with the treasurer periodically and as required.
- Coordinate, assist and be aware of other fundraising initiatives as agreed with line management
- Take advantage of any community fundraising activities that might present themselves, in consultation with the Friends of CLCC Ltd., and the Board of Trustees.
- Respond to inbound communications about fundraising as appropriate.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time by the trustees or the centre manager.

Fundraiser – Person Specification
1. Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent Research Skills.
- Excellent IT skills - including Word and Excel
- High standard of written English with the ability to produce concise and persuasive prose.
- Have knowledge of the charity sector and the issues that face small charities
- Working knowledge of Charity Commission regulations.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practice.
- Networking to build business relationships
- Ability to identify and research potential donors
- Education to A level or equivalent experience
- Relevant professional training / qualifications e.g. Institute of Fundraising Certificate or Diploma
- Experience of financial management and budgeting
- Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of fundraising areas.
- Experience of fundraising from trusts, foundations or other sources
- Experience of producing project budgets
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and multicultural environment
- Experience of report writing
- Experience of securing corporate donations in a previous role
- Experience of developing or maintaining a fundraising strategy in a previous role
