Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner has appointed Catch22 to deliver the Beacon Victim Care Service across the county. At Beacon, we believe that no victim should be left behind. We support victims and witnesses to cope and recover from the impact of crime regardless of how long ago it happened or whether it was reported to the police or not.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the service at a point where we enter a new contract period and will be looking to develop and innovate our current offering. You will be ensuring that victims receive a high-quality service through the effective management of the team’s performance, maintaining organisational and professional standards expected of the victim service. You will ensure that victims’ needs are reviewed and met in line with the key targets and contractual expectations.

Maintaining a close working relationship with police partners, statutory services and voluntary agencies ensuring relationships are effectively managed and pathways of support for victims remain seamless to provide high quality and consistent service. 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Ensuring day to day delivery of the victim service under the line management of the Head of Service and in line with the local policy and procedures.
  • Maximising the performance and contribution of staff in meeting the objectives of the service and through staff supervision, performance management, workload management, appraisal, training, consultation and service/team meetings.
  • Ensuring all staff are vetted and cleared to the levels required by Catch22 and the police to both enter and work within police premises and have access to required crime management systems.
  • Managing the recruitment, induction, training and development of staff ensuring a consistent and dependable workforce.
  • Consistently reviewing and continuously improving links to and relationships with primary referral providers including police, Crown Prosecution Services, Her Majesty’s Court Services, third parties and victims of crime.
  • Ensuring that all reasonable steps are put in place to facilitate the best support to victims, helping them cope and recover from their experience as a victim

 

Qualifications

Educated to a good standard, including as a minimum GCSE level English and maths

Experience and skills

  • Leading casework and teams working with vulnerable people
  • Working on an inter-agency basis
  • The ability to contribute to ongoing assessments of the support needs of victims and to provide appropriate advice and support to them.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy with those suffering discrimination and disadvantage.
  • A commitment to equality and diversity.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, regulatory and social requirements

Additional information

  • Salary: £26000 per annum 
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Vetting and Clearance Requirements: NPPV 2 (Police Vetting), Enhanced DBS check
  • Blended approach of some office based working, remote working and travelling to meet service users across Herts. 

You will need a current driving licence, business insurance and use of a suitable vehicle for work or/and you must be willing to travel across Hertfordshire to deliver support within the community according to victims’ needs.
