We are seeking a Media Officer to join our busy Media team. The ideal candidate will have solid PR and/or journalism experience and excellent all-round communication skills.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity with a nationwide network of centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. During 2018 we helped around 184,000 cats and kittens, an average of 500 per day.

The Media Team is tasked with generating positive coverage about Cats Protection so we can maintain and enhance our reputation as the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. This includes handling enquiries from journalists, working with celebrities and managing campaigns and events such as the National Cat Awards, ensuring Cats Protection achieves the recognition it deserves.

As the National Media Officer, you will be researching, writing and distributing media releases, images and videos, plan and organise media coverage for our key campaigns and events, liaise with our employees and volunteers to set up media interviews and brief all parties. You will also be identifying and nurturing new and existing celebrity and influencer relationships as well as using social media to network with journalists, celebrities and influencers.

You will need to have a post graduate qualification in either PR or Journalism with experience within a similar role. You will be a team player, be able to influence others, builds excellent relationships and has a lot of creativity. You'll have excellent written and communication skills with confident telephone manner.
